Many visitors appreciated the spacious, private sites and the well-maintained bathrooms. However, some noted the lack of running water and showers in certain loops, which posed an inconvenience. For a campground with electricity and water hook-ups, sites are well-spaced (except the surprise "double" sites, watch for those) and offer trees and decent privacy. Bathrooms were clean (flush toilets in one set) and normally have showers. Bear box provided at each site. Beautiful canyon!

Site 14 is secluded and level, but no shade. Bear box was empty and clean, hosts friendly at a distance, bathrooms cleaned 3x a day. Showers closed for 2020 season. All sites far from the Crystal River, but also away from Hwy 133 traffic noise. Peaceful nights, quiet neighbors. 4 wheeled Lead King Basin, don't miss Slow Groovin' BBQ in Marble. 3rd stay and more to follow

The area was beautiful, and each campsite had a great deal of privacy, though not shade. The water pumps were conveniently located, and the bathrooms were spotless and not smelly despite being composting toilets. Also, the fire-ring at our campsite was well-made and really nice to use. On the downside, we were really disappointed that the showers were closed. These are relatively expensive campsites, and I don't see why the showers needed to be closed if the bathrooms could be open... How are they a greater risk of spreading covid-19 than the bathrooms?
While open showers and more shade would have been greatly appreciated, the campsite was clean, well managed, and a good experience.

Sites are well spaced and large. Each includes a bear box, picnic table and lantern post. Road noise is minimal.

First off, it was not advertised real clearly that this was a shared campsite. Had we known, we would not have booked it especially during a pandemic. This was the case for our neighbors as they had no idea it was a shared campsite as well.
Secondly, even though it was a site that could accommodate RVs w/ hookups, it also mentioned tents were suitable. There was no grassy area to stake our tent. After two bend stakes and two broken plastic stakes we gave up and left. Setting a tent on hard gravel and trying to stake it down proved impossible.
Lesson learned. We ate the $50 or so and drove back to Denver with disappointed & tired kids.
Do your research and call ahead. The fact it is advertised as a tent friendly site on #19 with no grassy area AND a shared site with #18 was very deceiving.
My family and I will look elsewhere next time.
