Pretty hot with little shade but great place. Campsites well spaced, and small campground made it nice and quiet! Host most pleasant!

Wonderful camp host, clean bathrooms, good location. Camp spots do have some ruts and uneven ground. Very quiet

First, the good stuff. The campground host is very friendly and quite helpful. The facilities are nice and the pit toilets were kept clean and well-stocked. Each site has a picnic table and grill. The campground host sells firewood. The location of the campground is terrific for access to good hiking trails, and there is a lake across the road for fishing or picnicking (entrance fee applies). Woodland Park is ten minutes away and Manitou Springs is about 25 minutes.
I highly recommend Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument as a place to visit (30 minutes from the campground).
On the downside, there is a dirt road leading to disbursed camping that runs behind part of the campground (we were in site #8). All night long, vehicles were using the road and creating a real racket. In addition, the tent pads are not very level and there's little level ground in the area.
Through no fault of the campground, our campsite neighbors were quite rude and made tons of noise long after the quiet time started.

Not a very good camping experience if you don't have an RV. It's more of a take your family in a camper kind of place.
