What Guests Are Saying

River Hill is a beautiful and well-maintained campground, praised for its stunning scenery and friendly hosts, Edie and Felix, who go above and beyond for guests. The facilities, including bathrooms, are consistently clean and well-cared for, making for a pleasant camping experience. While the access road has some washboards and there was an issue with fresh water pumps, these concerns do not overshadow the campground's overall appeal, and many visitors look forward to returning.

A young moose wandered into our campground and it was amazing. Some of the cleanest bathrooms we have ever had (and we have seen a lot) and the camp ground hosts were amazing. Dirt road to the site is a bit rough but passable, so prepare for that. We will definitely be coming back!

Edie is the BEST host we have experienced at any .gov park - keeps sites clean & neat; enforces all rules (politely, but firmly) - we will absolutely return to this park - please let her be a host for as long as she wants !

Edit and Felix were great hosts and the campsite was one of the cleanest and well-kept I've ever seen. Plenty of wildlife to see and great hiking along a beautiful river. We had a great time and will definitely be returning!

Our Campground host (Edie and Felix) are the best host ever. Bar none. The campsites are perfect when we arrive. The toilets are like none other. Impeccably clean. Very inviting. We will always go there as long as they are Host there. The wildlife going through the campground is amazing. We even had a young bull moose come though our campsite. Totally amazing.

The camp hosts here are amazing!!! The only reason I gave 5 stars for them is because 10 stars wasn’t an option.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.

    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
