Moraine Park camping was delightful this year. Had a view across the valley and a couple of deer visited each morning. There was an undisturbed bird's nest on a stump in our campsite. We live about an hour away from RMNP, so we visit often, but from the campground in one day we walked around Sprague Lake, then walked around Bear Lake, and then drove up the Fall River Road. A glorious two day respite from the madding crowd.
The map on Reservation.gov was not updated for the test opening, so our spot was awkward for our pop-up camper. We didn't see any Hosts, but friendly uniformed Park Service people came through pretty often. A lovely return visit. Thanks!

It was such a great surprise to learn that Moraine was open! We have missed that. When we made our reservation, we were using an old campground site map. When we arrived, the site we reserved was not the one on the map. During the renovation they had eliminated some of the sites (and some were ones we loved), but because of that, others were renumbered. We understand that it needed to be done for various reasons. Instead of the level site with beautiful views, we had a much less level site than we expected and no views. We now have a new map with favorite sites marked with the new system, so the next visit will be better! We are truly thankful and grateful for all of the work that has been done to make Moraine better and for people to enjoy their time in the campground. New bathrooms, fire grates, are so helpful. The work was long, but the improvements were wonderful. Thank you for all you and the whole park system do to keep this available.

Exceptional campsite. Although the closest bathroom was closed, the next closest was still very close and exceptionally clean. Having potable water, an area to wash dishes, and a designated area for the tent was all excellent. The site was also a slight walk up from the road which meant we were never disturbed by noise or headlights of cars driving by, and we were able to see a beautiful starry sky.

Beautiful campground with outstanding views. Hiked the Cub Lake loop directly from our campsite. Only issue is that you have to go through the Bear slake permit stop if you go into town and want to get back to the campground. The line can be slow since some people clearly don’t have a permit and have to turn around

The map in recreation. gov does not match with the actual sites, or at least not when I made the reservation. The printed map I got at the entrance is correct, so hope it gets updated online. For the campsite, we loved it. Beautiful views and not too crowded. Just wish they would trim around and under the table.

Campsites too close together. Otherwise, it was nice and bathrooms and dishwashing facilities appreciated.

Timed Entry Reservations: For visitors who are camping at Moraine Park Campground, your Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road Reservation is included with your camping reservation.Campers will be able to enter the park beginning at 1 p.m. on the first day of their camping reservation, which is also the check-in time for all RMNP campgrounds. Campers who plan to enter the park earlier in the day will have to enter the park outside of the times when timed entry is in effect (for example, before 9 a.m. for most areas of the park) or make a timed entry reservation. |

Entrance Fee. A park entrance fee is required to enter Rocky Mountain National Park, or show your annual or lifetime park pass. You may pay the entrance fee upon arrival.Pass Discounts on Camping. Check-in is after 1 p.m.Check-Out Time: All campers must check out and vacate their campsites by 12 p.m. on their departure day.Hookups - A number of campsites have 20/30/50 amp electric hookups available. Moraine Park Campground does not have any sites with water or sewer hookups.Dump Station - An RV Dump Station is available near the ranger station. Solar Shower Stalls are available - This is a solar shower only. Users must provide their own shower bag for water. Water is not provided in the shower stalls. Laundry services are not available. |

Site Limits. Each site is limited to eight (8) persons and one camping unit (i.e., a tent, RV, or trailer/tow vehicle) plus one additional tent per site. All tents shall be located on the tent pad. All additional camp structures must be self standing without impacts to vegetation or trees. There is at least one parking space per site. Some sites may accommodate more than one vehicle. A vehicle is defined as one car/truck, one trailer, one RV, or one towed unit. Each vehicle must be parked on the gravel or paved parking pad causing no resource degradation or encroachment onto the main road. Extra vehicles must park in overflow areas.Maximum length of stay. The maximum length of stay during peak season is 7 nights. Please check the rules and regulations before making your reservation. |

Firewood. Firewood is available for purchase at Moraine Park Campground, and all other campgrounds in Rocky Mountain National Park.Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.STOP THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES. Remove plants, seeds, animals, and mud from boots, gear, pets, and vehicles. Clean your gear before entering and leaving the recreation site. Stay on designated roads and trails and follow local guidelines for firewood. CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY boats and any other recreational equipment that contacts water. Dispose of unwanted bait, worms, fish parts, or other organisms into the trash and not into the environment. Stay Out of Hydroseeded Areas!Moraine Park Campground has recently been re-seeded after construction! This process, called hydroseeding, applies a combination of local native seed, mulch fiber, and water to disturbed areas, and looks similar to fine straw. Over the next couple of years, this seed will germinate and help restore the local native plant communities we know and love. Please protect these fragile areas by using designated paths and keeping kids and pets out of hydroseeded areas. |

Be Bear Aware when camping. Store all food and scented (soaps/lotions/toothpaste/lip balm – anything with a scent) items inside Food Storage Boxes provided at each campsite. RMNP has a zero tolerance policy for food storage violations. Do your part to help protect wildlife. |
