We arrived on a Monday afternoon with a reservation for Site #5, but it was too slopey for a tent, so we were able to switch to Site #7 which was a little flatter and still close to the restroom and the dumpster (which we could sometimes smell if the wind picked up). The vault toilets were fairly clean. The trees provided some shade, but the biting flies are pretty bad. Close to a short trail that takes you to the Eleven Mile Canyon "overlook" and you can get a little cell signal up there.

Overall the campground is nice but noise will echo here like crazy. Throughout our stay there was a crying toddler, a barking dog, and a woman who talked loudly all evening long. A family came in after 10 p.m. and made all kinds of noise trying to get their popup trailer situated. On the plus side, if you love the stars like I do, you will get a Dark Sky on a clear night. Eleven Mile Canyon is a lovely drive too and well worth the $7 fee. The entrance is right around the corner.

Grounds and facilities (bathroom; well water; and dumpster) were convenient to have on access. Camp host was a disappointment as we were never greeted or welcomed by them (mind you we were directly across from the camp host site). If you plan to camp here, I cannot recommend camping near the host. They may change out but the host we had was loud (baby and kids screaming/crying; music playing) which greatly detracted from the experience of being in nature. It seemed like they were there to take advantage of any benefits for being “the host”. They were no where near what I have envisioned a camp host to be. May I suggest another campground altogether? Nearby area and forest is beautiful and be sure to explore it! Cheers.

Campsite was a "pull through" RV site. What that means is the campsite is located on the road so dealt with dust from other campers driving by during the entire trip. There are much better sites in the area.

typical US Forest Service Campground. Comfortable distances between sites, clean toilets with adequate paper, friendly campground host and good access to some of the best trout fishing in Colorado.

Gorgeous. Clean. Quiet. Hosts are great. This is our 3rd year in a row and we will be back! Love the hike to the river. And the stars are insane!

This is our second stay at Blue Mountain. Last year (2019) the camp host was great and kept the place clean. This year the restrooms were very dirty and at best cleaned once a day and they didn’t even clean the floors when they did. That was disappointing. Be aware that the sites are small for RV’s we have a pop up trailer and could fit in only a few sites. Pretty area and a great trail from the campground to a lookout point over Eleven Mile. Site # 16 is where we stayed and had lots of space from other sites.

We stay at Blue Mountain because it is not on the South Platte River. Usually we have fewer campers and children to contend with. We are looking for solitude and peace and quiet. The weekend are the busiest times in the campground. We have been visited by several bears but usually it is late at night when they come around. We see deer, birds and squirrels also. I fish the South Platte River for rainbow and brown trout. We take day trips to surrounding towns when not fishing.

Dry camping in a beautiful area. We had spot number one. It’s a bit off to itself which was great for us. The fishing in eleven mile canyon was great.

Our camping spot amazing. The views beautiful. Loved hiking and seeing all the wild life. Our spot that we had was pushed back but a little in the open. We had spot 4. Highly recommend going here to camp.
