What Guests Are Saying
Horseshoe Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, small size, and quiet atmosphere, making it a favorite for families and nature lovers. Many enjoyed the nearby hiking trails and found their camping experiences overall positive, despite some issues with mosquitoes and the occasional noisy neighbor. However, the absence of camp hosts during peak times raised concerns about site reservations and cleanliness of facilities.

Beautiful campground and very quiet minus the occasional generator and chainsaw from camp host cutting firewood. Road is pretty rough in some spots. Dirt road with rocks & holes for the majority of the way to the campground from Hwy 285. We pulled a small camper with our pickup & it was fine. Sprint didn't get service, but Verizon did. Clean bathrooms although very smelly. Campground was very clean overall. Trailhead access from campground. We would definitely camp here again.

Had a really great time. Loved the space of the spots. You could hike from the campground to various spots. My Sherman (14er) is just up the road if you want to get up early and do that. My only complaint is that there were people setting up in our campsite when we got there. Our name was clearly on the post, not sure if anyone would have actually checked either, the host presence was pretty absent.

Only complaint is that the manual water pump requires extreme effort to get water out.

Horseshoe campground is located in an area with nice surroundings; lots of trees. It seems to be well maintained, however, some of the sites require your trailer or camper to have extensive leveling and some parking spots are quite short. It is also a very rough drive to the campground; about 6 miles of rocky, washboard road, but once at the campground, it's very nice. There are fire rings with a grate and tables at each site, and one water pump. Again, a nice campground for basic, dry camping.

We had never staryed at this campground, however it turned out to be a great experience. We were greeted by Ryan, with a big wave and a smile. He was very helpful and very pleasant, which is an important quality, I believe a campground attendant should possess.
We will defintely return. Nice facility, close to great trails and all activities in the area.

Beautiful campground. Each site is surrounded by trees and fairly private. There is easy access to Mt. Sherman and to an old silver mine. The host, Ryan, is very friendly, helpful, and provided good information about local activities.

Our designated site had the bathroom and 3 dumpsters right next to it. You could smell the garbage. Luckily we were able to move to another site that was open due to a cancellation.
Do not ignore the bug warnings in these reviews. The mesquitos were really really bad. Tons of them. Even with strong bug spray, we were surrounded by them accept at night. They wouldn't land, but just hovered around you about an inch away. Very unpleasant. Host said it's pretty much like that in the entire valley "this time of year". Their source is a very pool of standing water in the camp ground, tucked away where you can't really see it.

Great location. Great upkeep. Great nearby trails. Not great bug situation. I read prior reviews about the mosquitos before our trip, but didn't realize the extent of it. Bring a strong anti-mosquito game with you if you don't want to be inside of your tent/camper at the campsite.
