What Guests Are Saying

Horseshoe Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, small size, and quiet atmosphere, making it a favorite for families and nature lovers. Many enjoyed the nearby hiking trails and found their camping experiences overall positive, despite some issues with mosquitoes and the occasional noisy neighbor. However, the absence of camp hosts during peak times raised concerns about site reservations and cleanliness of facilities.

Camp site was nice, well spaced out sites. The river by the site was nice, however it brought lots of flies and mosquitos that bothered us. site had a central water pump. outhouses were ok. host was nice. nice hiking near by.

Horseshoe was great! The colors were starting to change, which made for a beautiful backdrop. The camp host was pretty hands off, but was available when we had questions. There are a couple of hiking trails nearby and a small stream that runs through camp which provided our 3 year old lots of entertainment. The road to the campsite was washboard, which made for a less than pleasant drive in our camper van, but it was still a great campground. We hope to go back next year!

Beautiful place! The road up is bumpy for an rv so take your time, it's worth it!

The campground was great. The water pump was an excellent convenience. There are plenty of hiking trails in the campground, and it is close to other trails in the area. It is possible to get to the campsite with an average car, but if you want to go further up the road towards Mt. Sherman, you might want a more off-road type vehicle. The campsite was quiet. We saw plenty of bear signs on the trees, but no other signs of bear in the area when we went in August.

Had a nice stay at this site - the reservation showed 27 feet and our 27 foot trailer just squeezed in. Multiple hiking trails right in the campground - great for exploring. June 15 until end of season they do allow ATV and dirt bikes on one of the trails. Great if you have the equipment, but not ideal for hikers. We only saw 5 total all weekend. It was buggy too, so bring bug spray. Sites were relatively private and quiet. The major benefit is close proximity to Mt. Sherman for an easy 14er. I would stay here again, but would aim for prior to June 15. Very, clean but the community latrine was a little older then most.

As always the lake did not disappoint! BUT, the reservation management was a complete JOKE! i arrived on Sunday the 5th with a receipt for the 5-8 of July in spot 19. Someone was in my spot (19) when i arrived at 3 pm. They had a receipt through the 6th. The host had a schedule with them through the 6th and me the 6-8. The people said they were actually leaving after dinner, so I agreed to sit around and wait then sent up camp around 7 PM. OK, that sucked but now we are camping! Next day a lady shows up complaining that i am in her spot. The host was off, I explained what I had gone through the day before, she had a receipt for the 6-9 in #19. The Ranger had come by and wrote HER name on the site not mine, that comes later, I had a site a friend couldn't make it to so I offered that site to this new #19 customer. She accepted sort of. But asked that I leave early on the 8th so she could move in. Next day the Ranger comes by and says I am in some one else spot, (the second lady's) I went through the whole F'ing story again. The ranger had a completely different schedule. The host was still off and unavailable. In the end I made reservations in January when covid shut down the camp the Ranger said they cancelled all reservations and started over. NOT true, this site sent me a reservation confirmation, and said "we're open" I printed my receipt the day before and was never cancelled. Who ever collects the money collected double fees for the 5, 6, 7. In all I wasted almost 10 hours of my trip either waiting or arguing with people about the spot that I paid for and reserved in January!

The campground is pretty but the old restrooms smell terrible. In general, we’re not too particular but these were bad even after the host treated them. We don’t plan to return.
