rough road to pull a trailer on, lots of mosquitoes, but the campground is near a creek hiking trails and great scenery. The wild flowers were amazing. Lot of shade.

Everything about being at Horseshoe campground was great! The ONLY problem was the horrible CR18 that you had to drive on to get to the campground.

Beautiful spot with some easily accessible hiking. Mt. Sherman seems to be close. Just outside of Fairplay. Not very crowded, but spots 9-11 (I think) are very close. Last 6 miles are on bumpy dirt road. A little buggy due to all the recent rain.

Road is rough getting to campground. Camp and the sites are great backing to wide open space. Bathrooms were clean and very nice Host. Close to Mt Sherman.

Campground is small and nice. Host seemed friendly. Unfortunately, due to recent rains and snows, we could not experience the trails. Be aware that the county road leading to the campground is in horrible shape. It is 6 miles of roughness and takes about 45 minutes to drive to get to camp since you must drive slowly or it will rip up your vehicle and camper.

Campground itself was nice. Very wooded, secluded, and primitive. Dumpsters were empty and clean. Fire pits were full and needed to be emptied. The road to get there was TERRIBLE. County Road 18 from FairPlay to the campground itself was the roughest road I’ve ever been on. Do NOT bring campers up here if you care about them at all. Took a solid hour to travel 5 miles.

Camp site was nice, well spaced out sites. The river by the site was nice, however it brought lots of flies and mosquitos that bothered us. site had a central water pump. outhouses were ok. host was nice. nice hiking near by.

Horseshoe was great! The colors were starting to change, which made for a beautiful backdrop. The camp host was pretty hands off, but was available when we had questions. There are a couple of hiking trails nearby and a small stream that runs through camp which provided our 3 year old lots of entertainment. The road to the campsite was washboard, which made for a less than pleasant drive in our camper van, but it was still a great campground. We hope to go back next year!

From Fairplay travel south on US-285 for about one mile. Turn right onto County Road 18. Continue for approximately 6 miles to the campground on the left.
Horseshoe Campground is accessible via US Highway 24, which is approximately 20 miles to the east, connecting to Colorado Springs and Leadville.

General
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating
- This is a high elevation facility, please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- No RV hookups are available

- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Firewood is available to purchase on site, depending on any fire ban. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- The use, sale, and possession of all forms of cannabis in the United States is illegal under federal law on federal lands.
- ATV's and off road vehicles are prohibited in the campground
- Shooting of any type is prohibited in the campground
- Dogs must be on a leash or tethered at all times.
- Reservations are available up to 5 days prior to arrival date. Sites not reserved 5 days before become ‘walk-up’ and are available on a ‘first come - first serve’ bases.
- Two vehicles or one RV per site is included in the camping fee. $11.00 for a third vehicle. $11.00 fee for day use if not camping overnight.
- Firewood is available for sale at host site for $10.00.
