I couldn’t pick a more perfect campsite. We had site 11 on the Lakeshore in the trees with a view of the mountains. Sites are spacious and we were right across the restroom. Dana and Darryl were fantastic. Camp host. Dana even puts lavender sachets in the vault toilets. Best smelling bathrooms in all of Colorado! Lake County had lifted the level two fire band so we are able to have a campfire for the first time this summer. I couldn’t ask for a better campsite.

Great campsite. We had a lovely time walking down the path to the lake and looking at the stars and moon from our campsite. Clean, well-maintained bathrooms and great hosts! Site 41 is next to the bathrooms but is far enough away to not notice.

Great campground; access to trail along the lake. Lake level was down considerably, but still offered beautiful views. The rain showers offered welcome relief from the heat and dust! Composting restroom facilities were clean and well maintained. Site was roomy with easy access.

Beautiful campground with adequate spacing between camps. Some of the spots were not level so we had to ask the hosts to switch us and they did so gladly. It would be really nice to get rid of generators altogether as some people run them way too long!

From Leadville, Colorado, drive west on County Road 4 about 3.5 mi, turn right on County Road 9C and follow signs to Baby Doe Campground.
Highway access
The nearest major road is US Highway 24, which is approximately 10 miles east of Baby Doe Campground.

Utilities
- Water will not be available at the campground in 2026; please bring your own.
- There are no hookups available at this campground.
Vehicles & parking
- Each campsite reservation includes two vehicles; additional vehicles incur a fee of $11.00 per night.
- OHVs, ATVs, and dirt bikes are prohibited in the campground.
Site capacity
- A maximum of 8 people can occupy one campsite.
- Each site can accommodate a maximum of 2 tents or 1 RV and 2 tents.
Pets
- All dogs must be leashed at all times, including service and therapy dogs.
Safety & rules
- Generators cannot be operated after designated hours.
- The use of firearms and fireworks is prohibited.
- Caution is advised when traveling to this high elevation facility.
Wildlife & food storage
- Do not leave food unattended at your site; it should be locked inside your vehicle or RV to avoid attracting bears.

- To prevent the spread of pests, obtain firewood locally and burn it on-site.
- Firewood is available for purchase at the host site for $10.00 per bundle.
