The campground is beautiful. It is probably the best maintained campground we've been to and the hosts (Dana and Daryl) were fantastic. Great experience.

This is a beautiful campground with sites very close to Turquoise Lake. We loved walking the paths along the lake and loved our time in Leadville just 5 minutes away.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Baby Doe Campground. The campsite was much smaller than I expected based on the listing photos, which appear to have been taken from angles that make the space look much larger than it feels in person.

There was no reasonably level area to pitch a tent, and I honestly cannot see how the site could comfortably accommodate the number of campers advertised. The campsite is immediately adjacent to the campground host’s residence, leaving very little privacy. It felt like you were camping in someone’s front yard rather than at a secluded campsite.

The area was dry, barren, and uninviting. Access to the lake was also inconvenient, requiring one walk around or very close to other occupied campsites to reach the shoreline.

Considering the size, condition, lack of privacy, and limited usability of the site, the price was far too high. In fact, after pulling into the campsite, stepping out of my vehicle, and looking around for a few minutes, I decided to leave immediately rather than stay. It simply was not what I expected.

I expect better from the U.S. Forest Service. Public lands are an incredible resource, and visitors should receive an experience that reasonably matches the description and price. In my opinion, this campsite offered very poor value and was one of the most disappointing camping reservations I’ve made.

Great campground for tent - 30' campers. several sites say they will accomodate 40', but this is a tight squeeze. While the sites are deep enough, the road is very narrow & makes it difficult to manuver. Aside from that, paved roads, close to the lake, many hiking opportunities and spots are comfortably spaced!

Poor value for the price. No water available. My site (#8) did not have a flat spot for a tent. Camps are pretty close together.

This site, #39, was listed as a handicap site but it shouldn’t be. There are many natural and man made tripping hazards.
The vault toilets were clean but were very full.
Host did not give us the parking permit for fishing around the lake. We received a citation.

People with paddle boats have taken over the lake and are inconsiderate to people who are fishing. They cross your fishing line 15 ft from the shore. Yelling at them don't do any good as they have a dumb look on their face as they don't understand. Maintenance of all fishing lakes are paid for by people who buy fishing licenses. Paddle boat owners don't pay a penny. There needs to be designated fishing areas where no water craft are allowed.

Had a fabulous time at Baby Doe campground. Love the camp hosts.

Room for just one tent and barely enough room for two cars. Very small but clean camp site. Only there 3 hours into our reservation, then we were mandatorily evacuated due to Willow fire. I’m not sure why we didn’t get a full refund as we were only into our reservation for 3hours.
