Thoroughly enjoyed camping at Baby Doe! We were fortunate enough to camp in site 10 with a beautiful direct view of Turquoise Lake which is amazing! The sites are large and well spaced for privacy. It is close to historic Leadville, a very nice town with shopping, bars, restaurants, grocery stores and any other necessary provisions. In addition to boating, fishing and other water activities, there are also hiking trails along the lake. The sunsets are breathtaking with stunning views of the lake and mountains. While there is not a dump station in the park itself, there is one very close by for a fee. We traveled in a 28 foot travel trailer and highly recommend this campground!

We booked one night at Baby Doe in late August. Overall the stay was very good. The campground was very slow, and we did not have a lot of neighbors. The area is very quiet and if it's a clear night, the stars are amazing. the bathrooms were very clean and well stocked.
the only complaint I would have is we bought 3 bundles of firewood for $20 and for the life of us, we could not get this wood to stay lit. We camped a few miles away the next night and could not get it to stay lit that time too - we left it at the site. It was either too wet (although it didn't seem wet) or too new (not sure that would cause this) - but something was amiss as we are both very good at making a fire. Luckily we could cook our meals in our camper otherwise we would have not eaten either night. and let's just say, blowing on a fire continuously to keep it going at 10,000 feet gets you seriously dizzy. =)
