Baby Doe campground is praised for its beautiful setting, cleanliness, and well-maintained facilities, making it a favorite for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors enjoy activities like fishing, hiking, and exploring nearby towns, with many expressing a desire to return. However, some concerns were noted about the close proximity of campsites and the lack of water supply, which has declined in recent years.

Baby Doe campsite is absolutely gorgeous. The sites are large and well-maintained. But I'd reserved three sites, for a Thurs - Sun, for my wife's birthday. We drove out on Thursday afternoon, but many of our friends weren't able to make it out until Friday afternoon/evening.
Much to my dismay, early afternoon on Friday there were other people setting up camp in two of the sites I'd reserved!
The camp hosts told me that, if the sites aren't occupied within 24 hours of the reservation date/time, it's considered a no-show. So, rather than check in with us at the site that WAS occupied (all three were under the same name) she gave my two sites away. And we had to squeeze 9 people (and 5 dogs) into one site.
The camp hosts insisted that the rule was "clear as day" right on the website. But it's not in the confirmation emails. The only place you can find it is buried at the bottom of the page, under the "rules & cancellations" tab. In more than a decade of booking sites through Recreation.gov, we've never experienced this rule enforced before.
Requesting a refund for the sites I wasn't able to use is a wild goose chase as well. The site says I can request through my profile. But there is nothing in there about requesting a refund... and since I only had 7 days to do it... I'm out that money.

Baby Doe #30 is sloping, so hard to find two tent spots. Lots of room to park but not very private, as quite surrounded by RVs with lots of lights, generators, etc. Also, it is a long, sometimes steep, not well marked, walk to the lake which you can barely see from the site. Camp Hosts were very friendly though, so that part was nice. Restrooms and water are nearby.
