About Baby Doe

Baby Doe Campground is situated on the eastern shore of Turquoise Lake in the shade of a lodgepole pine and subalpine fir forest. This family-friendly campground is a popular summer destination for boating, hiking and fishing. The campground was named for Elizabeth McCourt, whose nickname was Baby Doe. She made a name for herself in the Colorado mining community in the 19th century when she took on the rugged work of a miner.

We got a decent amount of rain through the weekend but the stay was amazing. Camp Hosts were very kind and welcoming and the kids had a lot of fun playing by the lake.

Nicely spaced sites, beautiful area. We had great hosts that really kept the restrooms and sites very clean. Our site was near the end of a one way loop. The site was angled the opposite way it should have been, which required entering the loop the wrong way (fortunately for only about 100’) in order to back our trailer in. I noticed a few other sites that were also this way.

What recourse do campers have for people who refuse to put their dog on a leash? Three times in the past month we have camped there and other campers have their dog off leash, running into our campground and we have a small 15 lb dog. Each time we have to go talk to the campground host who goes and reminds them to have their dog on the leash. There needs to be STRONGER consequences before these people will abide by dog leash law. Sorry.....you all have a TOUGH job handling people who don't respect rules so that we can all share/enjoy nature.
