This place was a treat. Right next to the lake. You can walk there but also driving is easy. Ran the generator part of the time we were there. It was pretty warm (July) but the sun disappears over the mountain long before the day is done and it was very pleasant. Close to Leadville if you want a little bit of town fun. The camp host was the nicest guy! We had a spot without trees and that made it hot, but with an awning and some creativity we were fine. Highly recommend.

This campground has such easy access to the lakes, the Colorado Trail, the Interlaken Trail, and the tiny town of Twin Lakes (lovely history center and interpretive walk!), that it's hard to beat. We love the nice, big spaces at White Star. Our camp host was incredibly nice and we enjoyed talking with both him and other campers.

Lovely view of Mt Elbert and adjacent peaks. Two years of no water and no dump is inexcusable.

Wow! What a spot! The pristine lake and mountain views were a balm to us. Tried to go for a swim, but did not last too long in the cold water! Took a drive towards the mountains and had a little hike along the whitewater. So much beauty to behold! There was a booking mishap and our campsite was double booked, but the host was perfect in getting it sorted out and we ended up with an even more beautiful campsite! Hope to go back soon!!
