Great campground with sites spread out well. White Star Campground is in a good location, central to Twin Lakes, Buena Vista, and Leadville.

Great location, very clean campground, the host and her husband were extremely helpful and had great knowledge of the local area. We loved White Star and will be back many times.

Great campground. Camp host was very nice. We did find out after arriving that sit 51 & 52 are reversed in the reservation map. Actually worked out for us as the other site had asked to swap.

Beautiful scenery, clean facilities and a friendly check-in from the camp host letting us know we could use the fire pit and that our camping fee included day-use of the nearby lake. The only downside was they don’t allow anything to be hung from the trees at the campground including hammocks which we typically enjoy while camping. Booking was super easy and I would happily stay here again.

Great campsite! Bathrooms and all sites were extremely clean. Location was perfect for day trips to Aspen and Breckinridge. Will definitely be coming back here again next season!!

I have been in national forests for over 40 years and this experience is by far the worst I have ever encountered. Last spring I made a reservation for White Star on Labor Day. I could not reserve beyond Labor Day because the entire campground becomes First Come First Served after Labor Day. I have reserved in this way at this campground numerous times in the past, then staying up to 14 days on the site of my choice, the site I reserved well in advance.
This year, with no notice to me ,campground management,Rec.Gov, and the forest service allowed someone to reserve my site the day after Labor Day! When I complained to the forest service i was referred to campground management which never returned my recorded phone inquery. I eventually heard back from the forest service that the entire campground had been reopened for reservation, whereupon I found that weekends were solidly booked. I view the management of White Star as having stolen my vacation.

It has been 4 years since we were able to stay at the White Star Campground in Twin Lakes, CO. We have been going there for over 50 years. It was great. The other campers were so nice and the fishing was super. There is no other place we would rather be when camping than Twin Lakes.
