We had a great stay at this location. There was plenty of shade. Our kids enjoyed running around the campsite and campground. Just over the hill of our campsite, you could set up chairs and watch the waves roll on Twin Lakes. Easy walk down there too. Amazing!

Great campground a short walk to the twin lakes. Well kept restrooms, and camp sites have good separation from each other.

The restrooms were very clean and everything about the site seemed nice and well cared for. There was a mix up with our site. I'm not sure who was more at fault, the young woman who thought there was one free night on a reservable sight? Or the camp host who did not properly label the site tag? The camp host was off duty for the first day we were at our site, so we set up our tent alongside the tent that was randomly there. It was confusing and stressful. A call to the help line sent us to a corporate line in California which was completely unhelpful. If the site is reserved, the tag should be changed.

Note there is water available to fill a container, but the spigots are made such that you can't fill your water tank. Not sure where they expect us to get water.

Stayed in site 65. Much closer to the road than anticipated and could clearly hear cars and bikes on the road while in tents. Otherwise a nice secluded site. The walk in/out situation wasn’t bad since we were prepared for it. Overall a great trip

The campground was clean & nice, and fairly quiet. The camp hosts were friendly, too.
There are lots of neat points of interest to check out, within a reasonable distance of the campground. I particularly enjoyed seeing the abandoned towns of Vicksburg & Winfield (although the road was a bit rough, lol!) I also really liked driving through the old rock railroad tunnels & seeing “Elephant Rock” near Buena Vista. Next time we plan to check out the town of Twin Lakes a little closer and possibly tour the mine at Leadville.

From Leadville, travel 15 mi south on Highway 24 to Highway 82. Turn
right and go west 5.5 mi on Highway 82, turn left into the White Star Campground.

General
- Please note that the Ridge Loop is entirely First Come First Served and has 16 campsites.
- THE RV DUMP STATION AT WHITE STAR IS CLOSED!
- Two (2) vehicles are included with each campsite reservation. RVs and their tow vehicle, as well as vehicles towing camper trailers, are considered one vehicle when they arrive as a single unit. Vehicles beyond that would be subject to the additional vehicle fee ($11.00/night) collected at the campground upon arrival. Boat/ATV trailers are considered an additional vehicle and will be charged the extra vehicle fee per night. Please note that all vehicles must fit in the parking spur. Please no parking on the grass.
- Maximum of 8 people are permitted to occupy 1 site.
- 3 tent maximum per site, or 1 RV and 2 tents
- Dogs, including service and therapy dogs, must be leashed at all times
- Generators may not be operated after , CPAP machines and other medcial equipment are not exempt
- Be bear aware. Do not leave any food unattended at your site. Lock inside your vehicle or RV
- OHVs, ATVs, and dirt bakes are not permitted to operate in any campground
- Firearms and fireworks are not permitted
- This is a high elevation facility, please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
