Lovely campground, an oasis with full-grown trees within the Big Fish Fire area of 2002, which burned more than 17,000 acres. The last time we had been in the area was before the fire so it was amazing to the long-term effects of the fire. Although the area is very beautiful and green with ground-level growth and small flowers, it's amazing to see such a large area without tree growth among the standing skeletons of trees that burned 20 years ago.

We initially booked campsite 12, which is very close to the next site and not very big. It has a pull through for a vehicle or RV but only one flat spot for a tent. When asked, the camp host was nice enough to let us go to another spot that was open (site 11) which is on the interior loop and fairly private and flat. We had two vehicles, two tents, two canopies and other camping stuff and had plenty of room. The bathrooms are very clean at this campground. We went late June 2022 and the skeeters were out. There are hiking trails and lakes within walking distance from the campgrounds. Pretty remote though, so be prepared with your supplies and full gas tanks.

This is our third time returning to this area of the flat tops, it’s really our happy place! The camp host were so nice to let us switch spots to the site with the best view, as we regretted not asking in the past trips. We had three days of nature peace and quite!!

Amazing stay! Had some deer and elk traffic right through camp. Great access to trails. Definitely recommend for hiking, fishing, and being completely off cell service.
