The Trapper's Lake area is still in recovery from the fire in 2002 - so be prepared to see lots of dead, standing trees. Still a beautiful and secluded gem.

The camp hosts at Shepard's rim were friendly and gracious, campsite was clean and maintained, bathrooms were clean, wood was provided for a fee which was agreeable. Overall the campgrounds looked maintained and heard of no complaints from other nearby campers, the surrounding area had no trash and no fishing line found near the lake's perimeter, very important that people take extra care to help keep the area clean and to stay on trails, it's a very special and delicate wilderness area still recovering from a very intense forest fire. Hiking is easy to moderate with plenty of trails but for visitors keep in mind the Flat Tops is a genuine wilderness area high in the Rockies, far from immediate help and first aid and rescue services, for anyone that plans or decides on longer hikes be prepared to possibly sleep overnight away from the campsites if things "go South", in other words, if you are far enough away from the campsites you are 100% on your own so be safe and well prepared. It is absolutely gorgeous, one of the most stunning and unique wilderness areas I have ever seen in my 50+ years camping and hiking in Colorado and I have been all over the state; treat it with the utmost care and -please- do not leave one spec of trash -Pack it in - Pack it out- It is a Colorado treasure!

Takes a little bit to get to the campground but it is definitely worth the wait. Quiet and amazing views. Bathrooms were always clean and the trails are right next to the camp site. 10/10 and will be staying here again

We had a great time. Camp site and restrooms were clean and in good condition. The lake is amazing, hiking is very good and lots of it. Don't bring your MTN bikes, none of the trails allow biking, we could only ride on the roads.

Our two day stay at Shepherds Rim campground was delightful! The campground was pleasant, quiet cat night and clean (including the bathrooms). We would certainly stay again sometime.

Camp hosts are wonderful, the site was great (though very sunny) and the general vibe was wonderful.

Amazing views from our campsite and all along the hikes we took. Very quiet and peaceful campground. Worth the long drive in to it.

We reserved 3 sites. Upon arrival one of the 3 sites, #10, was not appropriate for two tents so we put four tents in one site. In talking with the camp hosts, who were exceptionally customer service oriented, they advised the website has #10 as tent and #3 as RV and the descriptions should be reversed. The camp hosts offered to exchange #3 for #10 but by then we were already set up with four tents in #4 site.
