One of our favorite campgrounds. Facility is looking better after they had to take out a lot of dead trees several years ago. Entire valley is beautiful and green. Many Beaver dams along the Eagle River and Resolution Creek. Weather was hot and no campfires but the air was smoke free (nearby Willow fire) for 4 out of our 6 day stay.

Beautiful campground. Facilities clean and well kept. Close to many spots for activities. Leadville is also close for any supplies or other needs.

I stayed at campsite number two. Which was a great campsite opening up to open space with a great view of the mountain Camp Hill have clean bathrooms and a beautiful campground. Unfortunately, no water would definitely stay here again.

One of the cleanest bathrooms I’ve been to in a campground. The campsite however was dusty. Not much grass or space for tent pitching

Camp Hale is a lovely campground. The sites are large, flat, and well maintained, a bear resistant food container at each. The place feels natural and remote, pines providing shade in most sites. The camp host is available, helpful, and friendly. Vault toilets are clean. You drive quite a stretch from the main road to campground without an abundance of signage, so be prepared for this. I used the Dyrt app to plan my itinerary, which states Camp Hale has drinking water. There is NO WATER AVAILABLE at Camp Hale, so brings yours in. There are interpretive stops along Rt 24 and inside the camp entrance that explain the WWII significance of Camp Hale. These are well done; I highly recommend stopping.

Camp Hale was a great campground! We’ve already rebooked for September. Michael was a great camp host! The facility was clean and the bathrooms stocked. The only disappointment was the lack of water. Unfortunately, it’s becoming very common that many NF campgrounds no longer have water.

Camp Hale is a lovely camping get-away. The camp host greeted us when we arrive and warned us of moose in the area.

Take I-70 east from Grand Junction, Colorado, approximately 135 mi. Take exit 171 toward US-24 E. Keep right and follow signs for Minturn/Leadville, merging onto US-24 E. After 17 mi, take a slight left onto 10th Mountain Div Memorial Hwy. Take first left into Camp Hale.
From Denver: Take 1-70 west approximately 90 mi. Take exit 171 toward US-24 E. Keep right and follow signs for Minturn/Leadville, merging onto US-24 E. After 17 mi, take a slight left onto 10th Mountain Div Memorial Hwy. Take first left into Camp Hale.
Highway access
Camp Hale Memorial is accessible via US-24, which is reached by taking exit 171 off I-70. It is located approximately 15 miles south of Minturn on Hwy 24.

General
- Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- OHV'S allowed in campground to drive in and at out only. Speed 10 MPH
- Water is not available at this campground
- Due to the pine beetle infestation and removal of hazard trees, there is little or no shade in the campground
- All food, beverages, trash and scented items must be properly stored when not attended. Bear-proof food lockers are provided at each site and bear-proof trash receptacles are provided at the campground.
- Reserved Sites will be held until check out time (NOON) the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.

- Any accepted senior passes must be entered for the discount at the time of booking for single sites only.
- Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday.
- Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day.
- It is imperative that you are clear from the site on your check out day so the host can come prepare the site for the next event. Please don't be the group that makes the incoming group have to wait.
