Zapata Falls Campground offers stunning views and a great location near Great Sand Dunes National Park, making it an excellent choice for campers seeking solitude and nature. The facilities are well-maintained, with clean bathrooms and ample space between sites, allowing for a peaceful experience. Nice campground with hiking trail to the falls right there. Spent one night here, just a nice basic campground.

Loved Zapata Falls Campground!! Wish we had known about it prior to paying for the KOA near the Great Sand Dunes NP. The views were spectacular and all of the sites seemed to be pretty level and spaced apart. No water, so make sure you bring what you need. Fire rings and tables were in good shape, and bear-safe food storage containers are at every site. Enjoy! And leave it cleaner than you found it.

Nice area close to the Dunes and Zapata Falls. The campsite was good after a clean up, there was no camp host. Do not expect many level tent sites. Screw in or auger type tent stakes are highly recommended because the ground is very rocky. I used them and had no issues getting a good anchor in the ground with no bent/broken stakes. The views are excellent and the campground is good. I will be back and would recommend if you want a cheaper camping option right outside the Dunes NP.

Great spot to camp close to Sand Dunes. The camping spots are very well set with their own fire ring and table. Had a great time there!

Stayed in site 12. Beautiful site overlooking the landscape. The area to have your tent is on a small slope but not terrible.

This is a super-quiet, remote campground...don't push it on RV lengths, as we barely got our 17-footer in place! You'll love the view, especially when a thunderstorm is rolling in. You can see for miles across the valley, and you're just a short walk from the Zapata Falls trailhead and a short drive from Great Sand Dunes.
