Beautiful area. Nicely sized, private sites. Rim rock trail from bottom of camp is pretty good. Nice clear sky at night. Fair amount of road noise and minimal view from site.

Campground was good, however beware of small or awkward sites depending on what you are camping in. We have a small 14” teardrop and had an issue arranging it on the site and having enough room for our tow vehicle (jeep wrangler). Site 9 would have been better. There were several sites reserved, but no shows, which was disappointing that people didn’t update their reservations to make those sites available that would have worked better. Site was fairly private, but main park road was close proximity, so you get some road noise. Proximity to vault toilet was just a few sites down, and wish they depicted location of toilet on campground map. No wood or any camp necessities near by and you need to go into Montrose for anything, so you may want to pick up what you need on the way. Almost no cell service and we had both Verizon and T-Mobile devices.
We only spent 1 night, but was able to go to visitor center, drive the south rim, drive down to the Gunnison river area, and catch sunset at sunset point. Overall good experience, but again, the sites were a bit awkward. Beautiful and peaceful park as a whole and amazing views along the south rim drive!

We really appreciate that both Black Canyon (South Rim) and Dinosaur (Green River) have lovely 1-2 mile hiking trails you can take your dogs on that leave from the campground area. This campground was lovely but our loop was the only one without bear boxes so we had more things to pile in the car each night. The gambel oak between sites created many private campsites, many with distant views,

Peaceful, quiet campsite. Quick access to the main road to view all the viewpoints. NO ACCESS TO FIREWOOD IN THE PARK. The only place to get firewood is pretty far back on the entrance road. This isn't a big deal if you know about this and pick up firewood on the way. But we had to backtrack quite a bit to grab our firewood.

The camp host was extremely helpful and kind. She found a campsite for us on arrival as the one we had booked online happened to be too small for us. She also found one for us on the next day. Thanks to her we had a great stat in the Black Canyon.
Please say clearly that NO water to fill the water tank is available in the camp, we had to go all the way back to Montrose to get water.
