It would be a 5 star if we had known to fill our freshwater tank on the RV before we entered the park. Thank goodness
for deodorizing body wipes !

Awesome campground host, Gyl. We reserved a site for the first night, then used the first come first served sites for the next night. Really cool that there was first come first served availability on a Labor Day Weekend.

Our camp host was super friendly and knowledgeable. The site was clean and was very conveniently located. We had a great trip!! I want to note two things. There are two bathrooms for loop A which was not a problem and the spot we were in did not have much shade as the listing says. I am sure this is dependent on the time of the year. We will definitely be visiting again!

Campground is easy to locate and navigate. No running water though. There is drinking water trucked in that is available but they don’t want you to wash your hands/dishes with it so you’ll have to bring your own for that or use wipes. There was no kiosk to check in so you have to search for your site on your own.

Beautiful Canyon and great campground. This was actually our backup spot. We hoped to camp in the East Portal Campground (first come basis) down in the canyon but after seeing it and seeing how close together the spots are, and the fact you're not really on the river, we stayed at South Rim Campground and liked it. The spots feel pretty private because of the thick foliage. Awesome stargazing when the clouds cleared off.

Well maintained campground with easy access to mile-long rim trail to the visitors center. Short drive to nearby town of Montrose.

deer wandered through the campsites
ranger programs were accessable and timely
stunning park - why had I never heard of this place before??
Campsites are rather private, due to large amounts of shrubs around them.
