Note many sites dont have trees. So you may want to bring shade.

Lots of ants in the warmer temps, seemed to disappear as it got colder, but probably would have stuck around if a fire was going. Felt like I couldn't sit anywhere, so I just stayed zipped in my tent when at the camp site. I didn't LOVE being right next to the road, but it was nice being right by the convenience store. I didn't take advantage of it because I didn't know about it before showing up, but would have been nice. Not sure I'll come back to this spot, just realizing I prefer dispersed camping a lot more than crowded commercialized reservation spots. Was okay though, I got a spot with nice shade and it was cute.

Loved this campsite! We saw a moose stroll through at dawn and it was absolutely majestic. Can’t wait to come back

No shade and we were on a corner space but it wasn’t a bad site. The trees are starting to grow. The camp host was friendly and informative. Grandby lake fishing was not good. The lake water is low. It was a fun place to play in the water. There is a lot of turnover of campers. Many only stayed one night. The campground is full every night it seems.

Arapahoe Bay is a very popular camping area sitting between Lake Granby and the Indian Peaks Wilderness. There are some real problems with this area though. There are a large number of condo-sized RV's that frequent this camping area. Unfortunately, these RV's are not restricted to particular areas or limited in their number. At night one hears the constant hum of their heating/air conditioning systems.

Particularly annoying on this trip was that there was No Water available at any of the campsites- (not a big problem for the bus-sized RV's camping near us). That meant driving 15 or so miles into Granby to find potable water. This is unacceptable and put regular campers, you know, tents and pop-ups in a real bind. The camp host at Roaring Creek did have a small tank of water to dole out.

Why didn't Recreation.gov warn us of the water situation before leaving for the site? One has to wonder. It would have been a minimal courtesy and not that hard to post on your site. Having to deal with finding water was an inconvenience for some and a real problem for others who may have arrived late in the day to set up camp and then finding No Water to be found!

This shows a real disregard for campers who are forced to use your site to schedule a reservation and have no other alternative.
You and the NFS should really try to get your act together. Right now I would have to say you "suck".

There was no communication from you or warning about there being no water. And once we arrived and discovered that reality, there was also no information available regarding where we could get water. Other campers were facing the same situation. Very irresponsible on your part!

We stayed at Big Rock the smell of the pine were amazing. Having the water so close was an absolute delight. Please note there is no accessable water at the Big Rock campground. There has been for a few years and will take a few years to fix, your government. They have a 1000 plus barrel up past the Bay Moraine. The water barrel get filled maybe daily, not to sure. You can also go to Stillwater RV & campground toward Grand Lake to get some water too. Fill it up. We loved the campground.

Beautiful campground. Site was more private then many of them (site 32 MORA) which appreciated. Short walk down the hill to the water. Beautiful mountain/river/valley view.

There are very few good water view campsites that have shade which made camping miserable on full sun days. There is very little shade overall in this campground. It is an 8 mile drive in on a dirt road from highway 34 which means 30+ minutes in and out each day to leave the campground. The water main was broken at the campground which made it very inconvenient and difficult to obtain water from a neighboring campground. All in all, it. Good experience - pick another campground!
