Our family spent 4 days at the BIG ROCK - Arapaho Bay. We LOVED the place. We were so Lucky to get someone like Paula helping us as she could on the campsite area. She is a plus at the campsite for sure. It was our first time camping and we for sure will be back. Thanks Paula.

Our site was tight to get into with our 32' trailer, (site 23-moraine loop) but once we were in there it is a very private spot and close to the water. I have camped for many years and this is the nicest, friendliest camp host I have ever encountered. There were moose and a bear in the area so be sure to clean up at night!

Gorgeous campground! We stayed at site 060 for 2 nights and enjoyed almost every minute of it. As visible by the aerial map, this site is pretty close to others (~30-40ft?) but the noise of the roaring fork creek coming down from the mountains drowned everything out and we rarely heard our camp neighbors or passers-by on the nearby trail. Vault toilets and water spigot nearby well maintained and clean! Camp host nearby to purchase firewood on site and answer questions. No parking directly at this spot and when we arrived someone was in our designated parking spot but quickly noticed and moved! Only downside is that there is very little to no shade at this campground due to some past forestation issues, but lots of young trees growing slowly! One tall pine near this site. The shoreline of Arapaho Bay is extremely close and the water is refreshing. Sites are equipped with a standard tent pad, picnic table, bear box, and what looks liked a pretty new fire pit/grill. Would absolutely stay again but prepare for the lack of shade in the heat of the day.

We stayed on the Moraine loop and had a great stay! Some sites like the one we chose back up to the bay and provide excellent kayak launching spots and beach access. The noise of the Roaring Fork cascades provided white noise for a good night's sleep.
Two cautions... The campground is snuggled up at the end of a mountain valley; overnight temperatures were significantly lower than any local forecast. The low at the Sunset Point campground just up the road was in the 50s, but we woke up with a frosty tent! And second, the campground is near prime moose territory; signs of moose were apparent nearby to our camp site, and fresh overnight! Be very cautious in the area and do not approach moose; dogs might not be a great idea as moose react aggressively to dogs.
