Dowdy lake is amazing. The rock formations in the water are awesome, it is incredibly quiet because you're a long way away from a major highway. Very beautiful spot

We had a beautiful view of the lake. The campground, including the vault toilets, was immaculate. The camp hosts were extremely friendly and helpful.

Great host (Scott), clean bathrooms, good cell coverage, large sites, lake only down about 5-6' & great for water activities.
Fire ban had been lifted 2 days before our arrival (wish Rec.gov had notified us online). Glad we had our propane fire pit.
Stars a plenty & had a great time.

Dowdy campground is difficult to get reservations but worth the effort. It’s pretty with water access for non motorized boats. Nice shade and well maintained. Red Fearher Villiage is near by for essential's and dining.

Dowdy is a beautiful place to camp. The rock formations are amazing! Access to the lake for paddle boarding, canoeing or kayaking is possible from several locations. There is also a walking path around the lake. This is a very popular campground and reservations fill up quickly.

The trail around the lake needs some maintenance in places and the toilets smell, but the bathrooms are clean and the campgrounds are great.

as always it was a delightful experience.This was the first time we didn't have a view of the lake but it was still within walking distance. an added plus, we got to have a campfire. new campground host, but they were friendly and helpful.

This was a pleasant place to camp. At our location, the sites were pretty close together which didn't allow for much privacy. But having the lake close enough to walk from our site with a couple cold drinks made up for the inconveniences.

Getting There
From Fort Collins, take Highway 287 north for approximately 24 mi to Livermore. Turn west on County Road 74 and continue about 23 mi to Dowdy Lake Road. Turn right, then another right onto Dowdy Drive and continue to the campground.

Dowdy Lake is accessed via Highway 287, which is approximately 24 miles from Fort Collins. From Highway 287, the route continues on County Road 74 for about 23 miles before reaching Dowdy Lake Road.
