Camp host were nonexistent during our stay. Bathrooms were never cleaned and overall campground lacked care. We have stayed at Dowdy several times over the years. This was he worst condition we have ever seen Dowdy in.

The outhouse was disgusting. We could smell them into our campsite and beyond.

I love this campground, but it has gone downhill lately. The campsite post had my reservation dates incorrectly posted and because of this someone had just finished up setting up their camp. I had to approach them and ask them to leave. They had said that the camp host had told them the site was available.

A beautiful area, but extremely expensive for a campsite (why charge people in tents for electricity?). The ban on swimming is obtuse and unnecessary. The fire ban was amusing considering it rained the entire time we were there.

We had a great stay, very family and dog friendly. I grew up coming here so it was nice to come back with my own family. We had a great time walking the trail around the lake and paddle boarding. We saw 2 bald eagles and a golden eagle. The hosts were friendly and the bathrooms and campsites were clean. Our specific campsite (12) happened to be in an unfavorable wind path from the bathrooms. The lower numbered campsites are very close together and more favorable for RVs.

Getting There
From Fort Collins, take Highway 287 north for approximately 24 mi to Livermore. Turn west on County Road 74 and continue about 23 mi to Dowdy Lake Road. Turn right, then another right onto Dowdy Drive and continue to the campground.
Highway access
Dowdy Lake is accessed via Highway 287, which is approximately 24 miles from Fort Collins. From Highway 287, the route continues on County Road 74 for about 23 miles before reaching Dowdy Lake Road.
