Great spot with nice ce access to the lake and walking trail

Wonderful site & experience. Close to the lake. Great easy walk/hike to West Lake from another loop that added to the fun. My 4 year old was happy digging in the sand and even though the lake is low, the paddle boarding was awesome! Host was helpful & friendly.

Site #15 was very flat! Easy to back a trailer in to. Very close lake access. Had a great stay!

We have been going to Dowdy Lake for the last 10 years and it's still one of our favorites. Dowdy Lake is a beautiful hidden gem. We were very thankful this season because I was having a heck of time reserving two spots (back in January) for the upcoming summer season. I finally came across a single spot but I really needed two or a double site. I made a call and talked to a very kind gentleman and stated that the site we have reserved can technically hold our two smaller campers. He was so awesome and accomodating to us; he gave us the OK to plan on both campers being set up on that larger spur. A big shout out to this gentleman (his name will remain anonymous) but thank you so much for the wonderful customer service. Also, the camp hosts were just as wonderful, so thank you to them as well. When you camp at Dowdy Lake, I highly suggest taking a small hike up to West Lake because that is a beautiful spot to walk, fish, etc.

The reservation system needs systemic overhaul and improvement . No private business could operate this way and survive. A site sat unoccupied for three days but the host refused to reassign it. The next day it became FF but I had no idea and missed it. I moved to a site that the reservation site called FF, set up and paid and the host chased us off saying it was reserved. Neither the post tag nor the reservation system said so and no one came to use it. I moved for nothing to a lesser site. The demand for these valuable sites is so high that it is shameful to mismanage them like this. I was very disappointed.

I love Dowdy Lake, because it is tranquil and clean! Motorized water vessels seem to be restricted, so that helps keep the water clean. The only down side is the broken glass and fishing lures that get left behind at some of the popular shore fishing spots, but I haven't been to a lake in CO that doesn't have that problem.

camp host was amazing!

28C is a great site, very roomy, shady, and although it’s along the campground road, not noisy at all. Loved our stay there !

The scenery is amazing, but the noise was the worse we have ever experienced. We were the only tent campers all the sites had RV’s and everyone had a barking dog, from 6am until 10pm non stop barking dogs for 5 days straight couldn’t wait to get home for some quiet.

We reserved a double-site (#54) even though another camper would not be joining us. There is a tree in the middle of the campsite, and lining the road just ahead of the site (where you have to drive in order to back into the site), there are two trees right on the edge of the road. In addition, on the east side of the road are some large rocks that line the edge of the road. I have a Ford F-150 pickup, and my camper is 23.5'. I am average at backing up the camper. I tried and tried and tried to back the camper into the space, but I could not do it. There wasn't enough room for me to maneuver in order to get the camper in. So, I drove to see the camper ground hosts (there are 2). I explained the situation and asked if there were any sites open; she gave us five. However, when we immediately drove back into the campground, we saw that all five were already full and looked like they had been there a long time. There was a nice spot marked "Open," so I parked there. The other campground host was near that campsite, so I told him what I had done, and he looked at his spreadsheet, and said, "OK," and wrote my name down. We spent about an hour getting camp set up, and our grandson and I went kayaking. About 10 minutes later, I saw my wife standing on the shower waving at us to come in. When we got to the shore, she told me that another camper had pulled up and showed her the paperwork showing that they had reserved the campsite several days ago for that night and the next two also. So, we quickly broke camp. After the 2nd campground host tried to help me to back into #54 (which was actually the only site open) and my continuing to fail, he agreed to back the camper in. It took him a few times, but he was able to get it parked.

This was not a good experience for us.
