This is the cleanest campground I've been to. The vault toilets were cleaned twice a day and well-stocked. The tent pads were raked between visitors, There was no trash and folks kept VERY clean campsites thanks to good-sized bear resistant lockers at each site. The path around the lake does run close to some campsites. It's a beautiful walk and there are other trailheads you can take from that path. The lake is beautiful, with eagles, herons, ducks, and grebes (?) to watch. Campers can leave their paddle boards and kayaks at the lake's edge, which is very handy. The hosts stock an ample supply of firewood and the store is a 5 minute drive for ice or other supplies. Great place! We were at site 18 and there's another site almost directly in front of this, closer to the lake. We had the misfortune of having a very strange couple at that site who sat at their table all the time so we really couldn't avoid looking at them when we looked out over the lake. Campsites are fairly close together.

The most pristine National Park Campground we have ever had the pleasure and fun to stay in! The Camp hosts were there for us and made us feel like part of the family! We loved it and will go back often!

My wife and I are kayakers and Dowdy Lake is one of our favorite places. The water and lake structures (islands, rock outcroppings, coves, etc.) are gorgeous. The birds (herons, hawks, bald eagles, etc.) are numerous and beautiful. The campers we've encountered are friendly and quiet. One time, when we showed up a day early on a very crowded weekend, the camp host found us a campsite. All in all, Dowdy Lake is always a wonderful experience.

Our favorite camping spot. It is beautiful and you can fish, hike(lots of trails for all ages and abilities) or kayak. The campsites are far enough apart that it seems private. We no longer tent camp but if we did, Dowdy would be #1.Very clean and well kept and the camp hosts are wonderful.
