Dowdy lake is the best we book this campground every year. Great for the family and is quiet in the evenings.

Easy access to the lake for paddle boarding, kayaking, and fishing. Beautiful views. The path around the lake was kind of disgusting with cow patties everywhere. Had to keep the dog out of them, which was almost as challenging as keeping the kids from accidentally stepping in them. And when I say "everywhere", they were about every 5 feet, huge patties on either side of the trail and sometimes right in the middle of it. The trail connection to Mount Margaret from the campsite went straight thru the federal land where the cows are apparently allowed graze, so you had to wade thru the herd at points... which is a bit unnerving.

The campground has many beautiful wooded sites. The sites next to the lake are extraordinary! The lake is gorgeous and clear and the trails around the lake are well maintained and very easy to traverse. I only wish that reservations were not so hard to get!
