Location was great. Very close to some beautiful hikes. Our site was out in the open and we were in a tent. We had quite a bit of rain and wind, so if you’re in a tent, you might want to have a site with trees. Bathrooms were very clean and the setting was beautiful.

I've been going to Pawnee for over 40 years and it still remains one of my favorite camping locations. The hosts kept the place immaculate.

This may be the best campground in Colorado! All sites have lots of pine trees so shade is almost constant. Early August and everyday was flannel shirt weather in the mornings and evenings. Sites are not too close and are very well maintained. Wonderful camping. The views from the lake are breathtaking. Lake is just a few hundred feet from any campsite. We stayed in a pop-up but there was also a very large tent pad at our site (Moose 30) also.

Traffic at the entry gate, long lines of cars waiting to get in for day use, and no way for registered campers to go around the long lines to get to their campsites.
There should be a pay phone at the visitors center.

We (family of 4 with 2 teenagers) stayed on site 5 and we loved it. The hosts were very friendly and the campsites were very clean. Despite no shady areas and close to the outhouse, we love the site. We could see the mountains from our site. We packed our breakfast and lunch and hiked to Isabelle lake. The view was amazing. The weather was perfect. The rain holds until we got back to our campsite and ready to bed. What a perfect day. We would like to visit again.

I had a wonderful camping experience. No waiting at the entrance station and the campsite was sparkling clean. I wholeheartedly recommend this location for anyone interested in camping at a close, but seemingly remote location. The scenery was beautiful and the potable water was excellent.

Pawnee is a beautiful and well maintained campground. Overall, I enjoyed my stay as usual. There were certain restrictions in place because of covid. 1) You can’t use the water spout to wash your hands. You must bring a container, then wash your hands at your campsite. 2) All the campsites in the Moose loop required the use of an RV according to the booking website. We saw several people using tents, and learned from the host that this restriction was lifted but never corrected on the website. 3) Not covid related, but a fire ban was in place. What we didn’t realize was that propane fire pits were ok to use. This would have been nice to know when they sent us an email about the fire ban.

If you're concerned about your health and well being while camping, come here. The staff is amazing! They sanitized every site between campers (first place I've seen actually follow through with it) and made us feel so safe and welcome! Gorgeous place to visit. You almost always see moose here by the lake. Got in a beautiful hike to Long Lake. I ALWAYS enjoy my time at this beautiful campground.
