We do a lot of camping and all the campground hosts have been very nice. The campground host at West Lake campground was the rudest and displayed the most unacceptable behavior of any host that I have encountered. West Lake campground is a lovely place but I cannot give it more than one star because the campground host ruined our camping trip on the 2nd day.

Views and lake access are incredible. Run out of coffee? Walk to the grocery story or the visitor center. Great access to trails and other lakes in the area.

West Lake is beautiful. We have been staying there for over 20 years since they updated the entire camp ground. We seen many camp hosts come and go. I must say no one keeps those out houses as clean as Sharon and Tom did. We come up 2 to 3 times every summer and look forward to many more years.

Very clean and spacious camp site. Bathrooms close and walk to the lake is short.

Once we got a FF site the campground itself is awesome. That said, getting a reservation is not a good experience! We spent 10 days at Westlake and walked around the Dowdy Lake as well. In the Spring I had attempted daily to secure a reservation at Dowdy or Westlake to no avail. Once here and walking through the Dowdy campground it was very frustrating to see empty sites with 3-7 day reservation dates and no evidence that anyone had ever been in the site. It would be great if sites not occupied the 1st day of a reservation would become available online. In Westlake, the Host made unoccupied sites available for the taking; this did not appear to be happening at Dowdy. Love this place!
