What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

There is a nice view of the sand dunes from the campground. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and warm, despite the low temperatures outside. Nice visitor center. Great picnic areas.

This is the third year I've taken the 7th grade class to stay at the Sand Dunes for a week, and the group sites here are great. Plenty of space for various tent sizes, plentiful bear box space, and the rangers come around frequently to check in on the group.

Very clean bathroom! The park attendant was super kind and helpful. The campground was quiet and peaceful. Plenty of space for 8 of us on one site. We had a blast!

Great park. Great campground. Pretty good site. I did not notice the warning in the Site Details that its tight to back in to. With our F150 and a 19' trailer I really did need to go around the loop the wrong way. I didn't get caught on the way in, but the law enforcement ranger caught me on the way out. Just no way to pull out going the "right way". The wrong way is a straight shot. The campground wasn't busy. We had to use a lot of leveling blocks under the jack to get the trailer level. Maybe with a smaller tow vehicle I could have made the corner, but not the full size truck.

Loved our time exploring Great Sand Dunes NP. Our campsite was beautiful and overlooked the dunes. It was perfect to wake up to every morning. Facilities were well managed and maybe some of the cleanest we’ve been to in the parks.

Nice campground. Great facilities. Clean restrooms. No campground host. There in lies the problem. The rangers have enough to do. The hosts make for better monitoring of what is happening. The people in the campsite next to us left in a hurry. Firepit was abandoned with a fire still going when they left. When it was obvious they were gone for good , I went over and doused the fire pit with water. Not a big deal BUT a campground host is in a better position to overall monitor the sites for stuff like this.
