What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

The dunes were magical as my daughter said! Our spot was perfect and the bathrooms were so well maintained! Couldn’t have asked for anything more.

The campground is beautiful and fit into the natural surroundings. Bathrooms are very clean. We enjoyed the campground in our 21’ travel trailer. The sites are pretty tight and I don’t think they would support much bigger rigs. Sand Dunes park is remote and far away from any surrounding towns. I would recommend that you come with all that you need as supplies are very far off. They do have a small store/gas station outside the entrance to the park. But it is minimally stocked.

We make a point to camp here every year. It’s a challenge to get a reservation and you need to do it six months in advance. The campground is well taken care of. I like the new addition of trash containers in the campground.

It was stunning, clean, and well patrolled. It was a beautiful site with a short walk to the bathrooms, and the dune trail. Plenty of shade, and ample space for a small tent. Highly Recommend!

The park is amazing and all sites are very good. The dunes are spectacular as well as the mountain vistas. The trails are great and offer great views of the dune field and the valley. The only downside is the water fill station, which cannot fill an RV that requires a hose connection.

Those were the cleanest camping bathrooms I’ve EVER seen! So pretty! There was a little store as you come into the second camping loop and we were able to get snacks and s’more making material. I would definitely go back but go for the loop one versus look two for more unobstructed views of the dunes and better views of the stars

This trip was my first time taking the kids to a National Park and I can’t think of a better experience. The park was well maintained, and the federal employees were professional and present at all times. We all look forward to going back. Thank you to the Great Sand Dunes National Park team.

This is a wonderful campground and the NPS staff that works at this campground is so welcoming and was well educated and was able to answer any questions we had!
We love our National Parks! And this park is a gem!!
