What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

The only complaint regarding my campsite was the levelness of the site for my motorhome. I used all of my leveling blocks and I could not even get close to making my unit level. Everything else was great, even the bathrooms!!!

Loved staying at Piñon Flats Campground. Waking up to the dunes right outside our tent was unreal. The site was clean, peaceful, and just a short walk to Medano Creek. Bathrooms were decent (no showers though), and the stargazing at night was absolutely magical. It got a bit windy and buggy at times, but honestly, it just added to the adventure. Would 100% camp here again.

Sand Dunes are always magical, but this time of year the stream is the best with the water flowing, warm days, and cool nights. This was a great corner spot at Pinon Flats, and was remarkably clean and tidy. We liked that it was close enough to the bathrooms without being right next to it. We came in with extra trash bags to do our part and help out, but they weren't needed. Spaces are close, so you can see and hear other groups, but everyone was respectful and kind. Going to make this a yearly tradition!

Not the best campsite. Small and sloping, although it was convenient to toilets and overall the campground is nice.

Fantastic! Decent shade and great facilities. Watch the size of the tent pad if you’re tent camping :)

All the rangers were so friendly and helpful. I loved the Visitors Center and the gift shop.
I wish the GSD park offered cabins for those of us who are done with tent camping.
Thanks,
Mike Bono

The campground was very nice. My camp site was clean and was the perfect size and layout for my single tent. The restroom facilities were very clean. I really appreciated that the facilities include an outdoor "kitchen" sink and easy access to potable water. I would stay here again. Of course the scenery and location were wonderful!

Nice campsite. Good space, level, good separation from other campsites. Convenient to bathrooms.

Great campground, but, we were at campsite 9 and the three steps up to it were scary, especially if we had to descend them during darkness.
