I love, love, love Prospector Campground. For many years it has been a favorite camping spot.

Reservation was easy. Site was ready when I got there including a vehicle parking pass. Sites were far enough apart and had some trees between them, so they were relatively private and spacious. Vault toilets were clean and stocked with toilet paper. A public dump station was only a couple of miles away. Good experience.

We stayed one night at Prospector on the D loop in our small motorhome. The pad area was just big enough for our rig but the site size (picnic table and fire ring) was huge and the sites had plenty of space between them. Prospector is in a great location for visiting Dillon and Frisco and area, including the biking trails. We also enjoyed the hike right from the campground through the meadow and down around the lake. We would definitely stay there again.

Great location. Love to see the trees get taller each year.

noisy, many campsites had 4 cars and loads of people, quiet hours not observed, people cranking stereos, this campground has nothing to do with camping, it's a big party

Nice and large campsite (21B) with 3 possible tent sites to choose from. Close to restrooms that were impeccably clean every time we went. Spent an afternoon renting a canoe at Frisco marina and grabbing food in Dillon. This campground is close to town but far enough away to feel remote. We will definitely return! Itβs fantastic! Loop B is not on the lake, but thereβs a short hike down to it if you want to go explore. Only complaint is that other campers were noisy past βquiet hoursβ.

The scenery was beautiful. The spot was level. The bathrooms were clean and hosts friendly. Unfortunately shade was hard to come by. In addition, the forest service had recently changed out the fire pit. It was approximately 36" above ground. Very hard if not impossible to cook in the coals. You also couldn't enjoy the flames unless you built a very large fire. We thought the fire pit was dangerous although good intentioned.

Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday. |
| General |
Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day. |
