We hadn't stayed in this loop before and it was nice and quiet. The trees and bushes gave a good amount of privacy at this site and the vault toilets were pretty clean. We walked down to the lake from the trail off loop D and we were actually able to get to the water, maybe the lake is deeper on this south side? Cell signal is great here. Still a handful of no-shows at other sites which is frustrating for people trying to get reservations.

If you desire a great campground that you can enjoy a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding trees, then you would like Prospector Campground loop D. Bring walking poles to get down to lake due to low water levels. The fish were biting on Worms. Be prepared for Carp. Its only 10 minutes or so to Silverthorne/ Dillon for stores.

Excellent campsite, amazing views. Centrally located with tons to explore. I was bummed the water was turned off for the season. No biggie.

Trees are finally coming back really nice flat areas for RVs. Could use water situation to be better. But in a drought you you can’t expect that.

Spots were nice. The campgrounds are clean and quiet. There are lots of trails you can hike right from the campground.

Camped several times this year and prior years and the camp host was exceptional! You could really tell the camp ground was well cared for this year. I love the hiking trails nearby and the gorgeous lake views.

Getting There
From I-70, take the Silverthorne exit 205. Travel east on Highway 6,
approximately 4 mi to Swan Mountain Road. Turn right and travel for 2 mi to Prospector and Windy Point Campground sign. Take dirt road 1 mi to campground entrance.

Access to Prospector Campground is via I-70, with the Silverthorne exit 205 leading to Highway 6, which is approximately 4 miles from the campground.

General
- Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Body contact with reservoir prohibited; no swimming, water skiing, jetskiing, or scuba diving in the lake
- Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment, and tires before using lake or trails
- Reserved Sites will be held until check out time (ELEVEN) the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- Any accepted senior passes must be entered for the discount at the time of booking for single sites only.

- Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday.
- Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day.
- It is imperative that you are clear from the site at 11:00am on your check out day so the host can come prepare the site for the next event. Please don't be the group that makes the incoming group have to wait.
