Beautiful site on the river. I’m in a van and it a nice turnout for parking. Not the easiest spot to level the van though. Kind of wonky angles for easy leveling. I’m sure a trailer with a fancy leveling system would be just fine but leveling plastic blocks were a challenge.

The tent sites are HUGE and the views are amazing. Pick a site in the 60s (even numbers) and you can't go wrong. The sites 62 and up are close the the trail down to the lake.

I paid online for my spot Thursday, got there Sunday afternoon and there was a tent camped. Dropped my camper and we rolled in late from the amphitheater to another person saying he booked it that night in person. So, we shared. Don’t know what happened there but it’s a great campground! Close to town and beautiful views.

Camp hosts were wonderful. Pit toilets were one of the cleanest I’ve experienced in my 40+ years of camping.
I know we didn’t have water, but we planned ahead and made it work out just fine.
We’d definitely come camp here again.

Beautiful campsite- #38
Not a lot of shade (newly planted trees) but secluded from other sites. Pretty large site Site is not very close to the lake. Drivable, not walking distance. Camp host Mikelyn is the best! Toilets very clean.

Good rustic camping area , spots are close together but the views and area makes up for it.

We had a great time. The views and nearby by hikes were wonderful. The one challenge is lack of shade, and we noticed quickly that other campers had brought some shade tents. That's key after a hike! Really enjoyed the campsite overall.

I was having a problem getting my tent stakes into the ground, and was feeling frustrated. I reached, out to the campsite host of D loop, apologize for forgetting her name, was very helpful and even had some heavy duty tent stakes that did the job. She was awesome!!

From I-70, take the Silverthorne exit 205. Travel east on Highway 6,
approximately 4 miles to Swan Mountain Road. Turn right and travel for 2
miles to Prospector and Windy Point Campground sign. Take dirt road 1
mile to campground entrance.
Access to Prospector Campground is via I-70, with the Silverthorne exit 205 leading to Highway 6, which is approximately 4 miles from the campground.

General
- Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Body contact with reservoir prohibited; no swimming, water skiing, jetskiing, or scuba diving in the lake
- Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment, and tires before using lake or trails
- Reserved Sites will be held until check out time (ELEVEN) the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- Any accepted senior passes must be entered for the discount at the time of booking for single sites only.

- Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday.
- Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day.
- It is imperative that you are clear from the site at 11:00am on your check out day so the host can come prepare the site for the next event. Please don't be the group that makes the incoming group have to wait.
