Very nice campground, toilets aren’t flush style and there are no showers, as advertised, beautiful surroundings but you unfortunately can not swim in the reservoir.

We loved the location but would greatly appreciate limits on generator use. Separate loops and shortened periods of use would greatly improve the camping experience.

This was a great campsite with a nice walk to the reservoir. It was quite a bit dusty when we were there, but overall very nice!

If you want a campground that isn't too remote and has good cell coverage then Prospector is perfect. Space between sites is average. Some loops have more tees. We were in loop E which didn't have many trees, but we didn't mind because the view was wonderful. Our only issue was that the last stretch of the walk down to the lake was very steep. My husband had an ankle injury that made it difficult for him. The fishing was good so he managed to get down there.

Excellent campground. Sites are spaced far enough to be friendly but at maintain privacy at same time. Numerous trails to bike. Surrounding forest is beautiful.

From I-70, take the Silverthorne exit 205. Travel east on Highway 6,
approximately 4 miles to Swan Mountain Road. Turn right and travel for 2
miles to Prospector and Windy Point Campground sign. Take dirt road 1
mile to campground entrance.
Access to Prospector Campground is via I-70, with the Silverthorne exit 205 leading to Highway 6, which is approximately 4 miles from the campground.

General
- Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Body contact with reservoir prohibited; no swimming, water skiing, jetskiing, or scuba diving in the lake
- Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment, and tires before using lake or trails
- Reserved Sites will be held until check out time (ELEVEN) the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- Any accepted senior passes must be entered for the discount at the time of booking for single sites only.

- Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday.
- Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day.
- It is imperative that you are clear from the site at 11:00am on your check out day so the host can come prepare the site for the next event. Please don't be the group that makes the incoming group have to wait.
