Beautiful campground and not a bad site anywhere! Most sites are 0.3 to 0.4 mi walk to showerhouse/bathroom, which is nice for racking up the daily steps. Verizon tower nextdoor, while ugly, makes for great cell service and connectivity with our van's hotspot. Campground hosts are very friendly and do their jobs well. Great price, especially with the Sr Pass. We loved how dark it got at night, with everyong adhering to the "no big outside lights" rule. Bathrooms/Shower house was clean and functional - we got a chuckle out of having to use the provided big squeegie to push the shower water into the drain (no biggie; it's quick - and fun!). Even the vault toilets on the east side of the lake were clean and not too smelly. Our main dissapointment was that apart from walking the campground loop (0.8 mi) there was no walking or biking paths directly from the campground.

We really enjoyed our 6 night stay. The host, Delores, was so helpful and the bath house facilities were clean. There were hot showers which were a godsend since we were off the grid. There are a few alligators on the lake that kept their distance and there was an abundance of birdlife. We hope to return on future Florida adventures!

Spacious campsites, very peaceful at night. & yes, there is diesel, but recommend to fuel up before entering Big Cypress. Allow 3 full days to explore. Definitely stop at the nearby visitor center to plan your visit. Also, there’s several short movies to view.
§ One day, Make a trip into Everglades City & do the Prairie Loop on the way and stop at the little post office to mail a postcard for about $1 (stamp included)
§ Another day, Shark Valley Tram Tour is a must, & visit the Clyde Photography museum afterwards.
§ Another day, the Loop to the west is a must do—take your time. If it’s your thing hike Gator Hook Trail.
Another thought is look at the Skunkape event calendar well in advance—they may have a festival going on that might be worth your time.

Enjoyed our stay here, quiet, with a lovely setting on the lake. Short drives to visitors centers and wildlife viewing areas.

Great little campground. To bad that the 2 concrete pads aren't used. Could charge a little more for those 2 sites. Excellent cell service. Watch out for the 2 alligators!
