Site 36 was nice. The shower house and park for the kids were right by with a walk across the road getting you to water access. Complete hookups too, including waste.

This campground is awesome! It is clean. It's secluded. There's not a lot of traffic. Easy access to the water. The park ranger was really nice. The town of Council Grove is adorable. Don't sleep on this campground! Things to note about site 10 is that it faces due East and there are no trees to provide shade from the West. The site is sunny all day. Otherwise, the view is beautiful. The lot is huge! It is directly across from the restroom which is handy.

This campground is awesome! It is clean. It's secluded. There's not a lot of traffic in and out of the campground and not a lot of traffic on the water. The park ranger was really nice. The town of Council Grove is adorable. There are a handful of shops and restaurants downtown. The town also has a Dairy Queen and a Pizza Hut.
Things to note about site 12: it faces due East. There are plenty of trees surrounding the site from all sides. We were completely shaded all day. We actually moved to this site from site 10 because of the shade. There are no neighbors to the north or the west. Across the street from the site (west) is a large open grassy lawn. The vault restroom is about a 30 ft walk from the site. Trash cans are about 50 feet. There are also horseshoe pits. Backing in to this site can be tricky as the driveway from the road sloped at just the wrong spot for us to easily unhitch our truck. In no way is that a deal breaker. It was easy to work around. Just something to note. The view is stunning. The shoreline is covered in large rocks but completely accessible for fishing. There is a boat ramp nearby. We used it to launch our paddleboards. The lake was experiencing some flooding so the boat ramp was mostly underwater but worked for our purpose. This is a great campground and a great site. If we are in the area again, we will definitely select this location again.

The lake is way up, so when they say waterfront 🤯
Nice level pull through site, electric (20, 30, 50 amp), and water. Individual bathroom with shower, (pretty buggy, but you gotta expect that at a lake)
It was not crowded at all. And is very spread out.

It is an amazing cove to camp in with serval sites that has open view of the water. I love this lake and I don't think I have had a bad experience yet!!!

Love this campground. Lots of campsites are close to the water and you can fish from the bank. Extra bonus is a cover over most of the picnic tables. Very quiet and peaceful campground. We’ll be back!!

Campground was clean. The sites were level and paved. Great view of lake. Sites were also spaced out so it didn’t feel like you had a neighbor. One of the nicest campgrounds we’ve stayed in.

Council Grove Lake offers a great experience for campers. It is in the Flint Hills right outside of a great small community with easy access to shops, restaurants, and even a brewery. There is a trail head to the Flint Hills rail trail here as well, which is great for a day hike and bike trip. The campground itself is clean and safe and most sites are on the water or have a water view. The biggest “negative” is that it is often very windy. This is just a part of the geography but plan accordingly. There is plenty of campground walking and biking. The site itself(site 1) is a great site, somewhat more private than others. It has lake views and access for floating, kayaking, and fishing. The pad of this site is concrete but some others are gravel. Highly recommend Council Grove Lake and Canning Creek.
