What Guests Are Saying
Zilpo Campground offers beautiful, secluded sites with excellent access to the lake, making it a great destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The campground is well-maintained, with clean restrooms and friendly staff, although some services like water access and store items may be limited. While noise from other campers can be an issue, many visitors appreciate the serene environment and recommend Zilpo for its scenic beauty and enjoyable activities.

Every time I visit, there are more and more sites with open-air thumping loud music at a campground. If you want to party, do it at home indoors. Reality news flash: Your music sucks.

For the last twenty years, we have had the opportunity to stay at Zilpo each year. We have watched the park slowly decline into disrepair. The showers and toilets could have been better. Last year, Vista took over management of the park. A new manager with Vista has improved the maintenance and concessions. The park is being cleaned up and restored to a quality park to take your family. We stayed in F-Loop site 13. Everything around us was clean and presented a well-maintained look. The new manager is doing a terrific job with Zilpo. I will visit again this year. Thank You Vista!!!!

Couldn’t imagine a better place to camp other than dispersed camping. Facilities were great and were well maintained. Nice quiet and peaceful place to stay.

Beautiful spot. Sites are large and private. Cabin bunkbeds are not double, but single. There is padding on the bedframes. Facilities are clean. Staff is very helpful.

It was pretty, I swam a lot and had a good time. The only problem was that some of the other people there were very LOUD and inconsiderate. Somebody leaving their poor dog alone on their site, then going out for dinner, then as night falls the poor dog is going NUTS and whining and barking because it's scared and doesn't know where its people are... and then of course, the people return like 15 minutes before quiet hours so they don't get busted. And some people played music way too loud. On one side, the people were playing mariachi music for HOURS, and on the other side, the people were playing every tired, played-out song from the 1990's for hours also... I think the only one they didn't play was Heart Shaped Box, by Nirvana.
There needs to be more enforcement of the noise policy, or something banning playing music by electronic means, or something. If someone wants to drown out the sounds of nature with all that racket, I don't know why they don't just stay home.

Beautiful views, had been seeking a quieter atmosphere from Twin Knobs, and was not as quiet as I’d hoped. Lots of screaming kids. Looking for more remote camping/spot to enjoy the lake, but really lovely, well-kept campground. (Bathrooms not as nice as Twin Knobs.) I’ll stay again on less popular weekends. At least 35-minute drive from anything.
