Winter car camper here. Itβs the best time of year to visit! We do bayside and itβs quiet and provides solitude, if thatβs what youβre looking for.
The Park Rangers are just the best.

This campsite is at a great, private location on the bayside. I enjoyed biking to the ocean side beach and exploring the Life of the Dunes Trail, Life of the Forest Trail, and the Life of the Marsh Trail. The beaches are beautiful. I visited in September and had no issues with mosquitos. A trip to Berlin is a wonderful excursion. Assateague is a wonderful place to be!

Always a favorite. Assateague's natural beauty and basic setup is perfect for camping or boondocking. As long as we keep our site clear for the horses to stop by we have no issues. This trip we had a horse take a nap on the lee side of our RV!

A beautiful place to camp by the beach. Facilities are adequate but the showers are cold water only!
They feel good in the Summer! Ponies are around quite often so secure your food. We have been camping in Assateague since 2007 and Love it.

Was very cold, windy but it was mid December. Water was shut off. Saw lots of wildlife, horses, deer, fox, turkeys.
