Walk-in camp site #062 is a beautiful spot, somewhat out of the wind, with a most engaging resident racoon, who lives there full time and exacts food tariffs on all visitors.

Fantastic park. Great camp sites, horses and deer everywhere, nice spots for bike riding, crabbing, etc.

We loved visiting Assateague. The wildlife was amazing and everywhere. Our time was way too short. We will be back soon I hope.

Magical place - we had horses visit our tent at sunset and had the most beautiful sunrise on the beachβ¦with dolphins!!
The second evening was a stormy night. Our tent barely made it as the beach was super windy and some water got in. So I guess the experience really depends on weather. Camp ground hosts were super nice, as were the other campers. Toilets do not flush but were clean. Overall would highly recommend this place!

I'll have to come back soon because it's a lovely area, but we didn't have any encounters with the horses on our short, 1-night stay.

I always love Assateague, but what a thrill to experience it in early November when the water is still relatively warm and the mosquitos and crowds are all but gone. Campsite C48 is spectacular, extending out the back side all the way to the bayshore. It is the best site on the island, in my opinion. My dog and I walked up and down the shore multiple times a day, experiencing it in all lights. We also launched our paddleboards right from our own campsite and explored the salt marshes and the bay. And morning coffee with a bayview is divine. The ocean is a mile walk or quick bike ride away.

A truly amazing piece of coastal nature with horses and all the expected wildlife. Stunning sunrise and sunsets over the water just a short walk from camp for both. Only caution is the sand spurs on the A loop. Puppy friendly space but not on their paws. Otherwise a great dry camping outing!
