Really enjoyed this site. I did not read that these sites are not drive up sites. Luckily site 9 is the closest the to bridge and the parking area. Over all really satisfied with the place. I hiked the canal tow path a few miles in each direction and swam in the Potomac.

The site had a fire pit with a grate, grill, and table and there was sufficient space for a tent or two. The bathrooms are basic - toilet with no running water. Depending on the site you choose, be prepared to walk a distance from your parking spot to your car. It helps to pack light. There wasn’t a camping store with wood but there were twigs and branches. It would be wise to buy wood locally before you arrive. There was water behind the sites which meant a lot of bugs. The selling point is that the site is close to historic sites, making for nice day trips into town.

I've camped at Antietam Creek several times. I love the location and the facilities. When I arrived this time after a long day of bicycling the C&O, however, I found out that the handle had been removed from the water spigot. I walked the entire length of the campground to discover there was no water. I finally walked across to the campground host and he let me use water from his site out of a garden hose. A note in one of the reminder emails that water was scarce would have been helpful, or even a sign posted on the spigot directing campers to the host. The water from the hose was pretty disgusting as well. I advise campers to bring their own water.

This campsite is a good choice when you are riding the C&O Canal Towpath. It has clean restrooms and dry, level ground for tents. It is located in a good location for visiting the Antietam Battlefield, the town of Sharpsburg, MD and Harpers Ferry.
