Antietam Creek Campsite offers a clean and well-maintained environment with friendly hosts and stunning views of the Potomac River. Campsites are spacious and equipped with amenities like fire pits and picnic tables, making it a great spot for outdoor activities, including biking and hiking on the nearby trails. While some visitors experienced issues with site reservations and noise from nearby campers, many found the overall experience enjoyable and would return for future visits.

It was quiet and easily marked. The walk from the parking areas is nominal. The trees ("fully leafed") did obstruct my view of the river but that's expected and there are little cut outs so you walk down to the river edge. It was not as buggy as I imagined it would be. There were two other sites occupied both of which were quiet. Early morning joggers/walkers did start coming by around 630am but they too were quiet. The campsites are about 25 yards from the walking trail so privacy during daylight hours should not be expected. Would definitely camp there again if I found myself in that area again (I was traveling to NY from NC). Pete's Tavern in town has cheap beer and nice people.

Nice flat tent site with fire ring, charcoal grill, and picnic table. Shaded but not enough trees for hammocks. Site #4 short walk to privy and car parking. Water marked not potable so we filtered, I think this is only so someone can't sue. Has a path to the river but not enough space and too steep for kayak or canoe access. Short walk to river access downstream.
I would recommend as an overnight stop if you are car camping, backpacking or bicycling on the C&O canal towpath, or canoeing kayaking down the Antietam or Potomac.

Pack light or bring a cart. Parking is on the side of the road and there are only 2 paths across the small deep creek between parking and all sites . Mosquitoes are heavy and running water is no where . That being said a nice large site with a river path and plenty of space for anyone’s gear.
