What Guests Are Saying
Bay Furnace Campground is praised for its clean, spacious sites and quiet atmosphere, with easy access to Lake Superior and nearby attractions like Pictured Rocks. Reviewers appreciate the well-maintained restrooms and the beauty of the surrounding area, making it a great spot for outdoor activities. Cool that week, and mosquitoes were plentiful, but the camping experience was so enjoyable we didn't want it to stop

The setting is very nice. The bathrooms were very clean and didn’t smell bad. The road is in bad shape. The mosquitoes were so bad that we left a day early.

Nice outhouse - clean and stocked. Campsite clean and view was fantastic! Main Street pizza in Munising was super!

The bathrooms were good and clean. The road in to the campground sucks and needs to be improved! One loop is so close to the highway that it was quite noisy so we moved to the other loop and really enjoyed it. The reservation system was confusing because the time we wanted to reserve for was at the end of the R season and the start of first-come first-served so we were told by the system that we could have a partial R. All that was needed was a written notice that we would have the first claim for the site we wanted after R stopped and FCFS started.

We made a reservation easily online, but had a momentary freak out when our campsite did not have a reservation sign with our name. It did have a sign for the group after us. We didn’t find the camp
Host to ask about the best places for wood. We purchased wood nearby,
on Rt 28 and it was horrible…too wet to burn. The #22 site has exposed roots in a lot of places, so prepare to figure out a good layout for a tent. Otherwise, people were quiet and we loved proximity to Munising and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

There was a lot of privacy between sites. Campground was well maintained. I happened to meet a staff person (filling in from another campground.) She was very friendly and we had a lovely conversation. The bathroom was clean which was very much appreciated!

Such a relaxing campground on the lake. The hosts (Jill and her husband) keep this place safe and clean. The campground has level sites in the pines along the lake. The fire rings are raked and this place has absolutely the cleanest toilets in the U.P.
