I hesitate to rave because it will become popular! We loved our time on the AuSable River! Wake up every day to the sound of water rushing by and lots of wildlife to view. What's not to like. Hard to adjust to no cell service, but we survived!

Was hoping to do a little fishing from the campsite, however it is a very steep drop off to the river. The site was very isolated and quiet.

Well I love that this is not circle camping, and can be reserved, state and federal backpacking are not good for me as they are first come first serve. This site is nice full sun, ease of access to the lake, and further from the airport main city and light sources, good spots for tent, nice view, have been here a couple of times. 2 notes one rocks contain water do not put near fire, that is why you often see broken, or fragmented rocks by fires, and help the trees do not transport fire wood. I would like to see some tree replants, with more resilient native species, at this site.

GPS is wrong, don’t follow it. River access ruined by too many felled trees in water. Seems like the forest service or park rangers cut down and chopped up trees and left the logs and debris everywhere. Site was muddy and no good tent spots. 4x4 recommended if rain is on the forecast I wouldn’t risk bringing a trailer or a camper. Lots of potholes and muddy hills we almost got stuck. Hunters and fisherman frequent this spot so we got many unwanted “visitors” and some old guys who appeared to be a couple with a dog kept coming to our spot to “check on us”. Better spots to be found in the same network of campsites.

Had a great time, tent camping along the AuSable Rive in November was fun. The third day had 4 inches of snow, just beautiful.
