Ausable River Camping offers a beautiful and serene environment, with spacious, well-maintained sites and picturesque views of the river. Campers appreciate the remote, rustic charm and the opportunities for fishing and hiking. Beautiful spot to be this fall. Sites 80-90s are placed well on wider parts of the river, though a number are about 20-35' above the water with descents that are too steep to walk or climb down easily (be careful in the middle of the night of falling off a ledge!). We put our kayaks in at another spot down the road, paddled about 25 minutes to our site, and docked them there, where we could just scramble up and down for access. Definitely not ideal for swimming, though you can make it work if you're needy like me. We would have liked to get water to boil/filter from the river, but carrying it up and down was not really feasible. Ground is soft for tents and bare feet. Decent tree spacing for hammocks, plenty of wood for fires if you have a saw.

67D is a gorgeous site. Full view of the river! Great site for tents or tiny campers. Large site but quite a few trees and large roots for larger campers. Neighboring campers are far enough away for privacy.

Incredible site. Beautiful, isolated, with lovely hardwood trees on east coast of this island. A short trail leads to west coast of island for watching sunset.
Would live on this island permanently if I could.

Very nice site. About 3-4 minutes walk from parking lot. Good river access for canoe or obtaining water. There is a latrine between 60 and 61 up on the hill. We had no neighbors in late September.
Do not go off of site location on Google Maps, this makes it look closer to the day use parking area off of Cooke Dam Rd than it actually is.

A fine site. Not far from the 4001 Canoe Landing where you can park before heading down river.
Isolated, quiet, close to the river. Easy to find with signs. Go slow on the dirt road back - I scraped the bottom of my car pretty good.
