What Guests Are Saying
Bay View Campground offers a beautiful and rustic camping experience along Lake Superior, featuring large, private sites under mature trees and clean facilities. Many guests appreciate the excellent cleanliness maintained by the camp hosts and the stunning beach access. However, some concerns were noted regarding the presence of generators, the need for a camp host for better quiet time enforcement, and issues with trash management. Overall, the campground remains a favored destination for its natural beauty and welcoming atmosphere.

Steps to the beach and it feels like you’re in a whole new world along Lake Superior. Very large campsites in full shade. Clean vault toilets that are well maintained. This was a gem of a campground.

Our campsite was on the side near the road which was busy, loud, and consistently annoying. No campground host is a concern for me as well.

Very nice campground and beach. Outhouses were clean and didn't even smell! The only negative was being swarmed by mosquitoes most every day-but it rained enough to get things wet most every day. I'm sure that kept the hatching intense. The fire rings are too tall preventing heat to radiate out if your sitting in a chair. Also you can't see the flames very well if you're sitting and the height makes it difficult to cook over a campfire.

Remote, lovely stretch of Lake Superior beach still close to Sault Ste Marie. Rustic, small sites are perfect for small camper or tent camping. Decent vault toilets. Still weather brings intense mosquitoes and flies - bring repellent. Lake is amazing.

4th time we have camped here. I'm pretty disappointed with NO, the camp host at this site. I'm not sure what has happened. I was told it's under a new grounds manager. Not very good!

Location is terrific! $24 per night though is way too much to charge for campground with no modern options. All you get is spot to camp and vault toilets.

Love the campground love, the hosts are absolutely amazing. Had reservations for sept.13-15, planned to stay until sept.24 couldn't make reservation till then because the season would be first come first served. When we got there we found out that they had decided to close park sept 15. thanks to Ron and Val, they recommended us to a different campground that had openings. We would have appreciated advance notice of the plans to close for the season two weeks early as we drove 350 miles to get there and it was posted in June that they would be open till the end of sept. Nevertheless, the campsite was very clean and beautiful. the camp hosts apologized and helped us out. We will be back but please do not treat people this way. Thank You.

Quiet remote campground. Big clean sites. Monocle Lake loop hike to cliff overlook was amazing. Not an easy hike due to elevation and switch backs but the view of monocle lake, Lake Superior and the freighters on a cloudless day was incredible.

The camp hosts are exceptional! Kind, considerate and keep the sites, outhouses and grounds in tip top shape.
My concern is with the incredibly early
closing of the park! Why was the park closed for the season just at the beginning of the autumn color season? So many in Michigan enjoy camping during the color season. It never closed so early in the past. Why???
My 2023 reservation was cancelled without my choice and without much notice. I believe those of us that had reservations should have at least been given a chance to reserve before it was open to the public at large. Very poor planning and no follow through by the Park. Inconsiderate, disruptive and rude.
