Hernando Point is quiet and spacious, and will once again have great views of the lake once the work on the dam is completed. I wonder if they have named the Bald Eagle nesting on the A loop…

It's a very pretty and quiet location with full hook-ups. Well off the beaten path so there isn't road noise. We will go back. It has been added to our favorite list.

I camped at Hernando Point Campground four times in 2023 — once during a tornado! The campsites are clean, accommodating, and picturesque. The restrooms are clean. It’s easy to navigate the campground. Park personnel are friendly. I was extremely impressed on a spring evening when tornadoes effectively hit all around the campground (thankfully missing us). A park ranger came to my campsite and advised me to move my SUV to the bathhouse area and take shelter there. A deputy with DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department stayed with campers in the bathhouse until the tornadoes passed, and stayed in the park overnight. This is exactly how you hope things will play out during a weather emergency. That experience serves to boost my confidence in the management at Hernando Point and the interagency response. I anticipate further visits to this National Park for that reason, and for the reasons we all visit National Parks: To experience and better appreciate our natural resources. Hernando Point is somewhat of a hidden gem.

Full hook ups, one of the best I have camped at. No water in lake.

The place has improved over the years, but still just a good stop over or place to stay if you have to go into Memphis. Crime in the area is getting worse...the past two times we've camped here there was a police chase thru the campground and next time four cop cars surrounded a guy trying to get away from them. Since there isn't a gate and no hosts around, a lot of drug deals take place here.

Clean campground. Lake was drained due to breach repairs in the dam. Only stayed one night while passing through. A huge eagle's nest is in a tree in our site. Saw three eagles.

Enjoyed a week camping at Hernando Point campground Thanksgiving week. Even though water is mostly down due to repair work on the dam, the fall scenery was beautiful! Lots of big trees, deer, squirrels, ducks, etc. the campground was quiet, clean, and campground hosts very helpful. Great location for a getaway while only being 15 minutes from local towns. Always enjoy our time here.

Absolutely love this camp ground just wish they would do a little more up keep ! The bathroom showers could use an overhaul or at least some shower heads that work properly !

It was a nice cool fall getaway. The site was nice and level. Fire ring close by. Didn’t use the picnic table. There is a small drainage ditch between the camping pad and the fire pit/table area. It had rained so it was soggy. Would not normally be a problem. Good view of the lake and sunset.
