What Guests Are Saying
Avalanche Campground is highly praised for its beautiful, quiet setting and proximity to popular hiking trails like Avalanche Lake and the Trail of the Cedars. The campground is well-maintained, with clean facilities and attentive camp hosts, making it a great base for exploring Glacier National Park. While some campers noted issues with privacy and the lack of showers and lights in the bathrooms, the overall experience is considered excellent by many visitors.

The bathrooms have no lights. Nothing a headlamp can’t fix. Most of the sites have plenty of room. A few were quite small, but the location in the park overcame any deficits. The ranger approved of hammocks and my water bag shower idea. You will definitely love this campground. Plus, your reservation at the campground serves as your reservation for the going to the sun road. Within minutes of Lake McDonald and the lodge where a nice camp store is well-stocked and open late. Do it. You won’t regret it. The children are only getting older. Spend the day at Avalanche Lake. We got to watch a black bear swim across the whole thing to get to his girlfriend. If you hike a little farther to the waterfalls, you will get the iconic view of the lake that you’ve always wanted. We will certainly be back.

beautiful campground with shading trees to escape the heat; very helpful park hosts, clean bathrooms; nice to escape the crowds on the road as well as be so close to the avalanche creek and cedar trails.

Our site had nice shade and was spacious. Great location. People were considerate of others and not loud during quiet hours. We wished the bathrooms had lights.

Great campground close to Avalanche Lake Trail. Felt like the camping spots were spread out enough that you didn't feel on top of your neighbors spot. Bathrooms were close enough for all spots. Great campground.

It’s a very nice campground right off Going to the sun road. Great layout, restrooms are nice and clean. No showers but 5 miles down the road are Apgar’s showers which are nice. Heavily tree’d for lots of shade. The ground ranger-attendant was extremely nice and answered any question I had.

No showers. No bear boxes at each site. No lights in the bathroom. What are we paying for? This should be free for this kind of quality and even then I'd avoid.
