Avalanche Campground

The woman bathroom ran out of paper towels and toilet paper. Appeared to have not been cleaned the whole time we were there. Told several park rangers nothing was done.

We had a great experience in avalanche. We had no service which forced us out of our phones and just take in nature's beauty while also spend more time with each other. It is in the center of Going to the Sun road which isnt too bad of a drive to explore East and West Glacier. It is very convenient to just walk to Trail of the Cedars right from our campsite when parking is very limited. Just some notes about the campground and national park: 1. The bathrooms have no electric lighting, they rely natural lighting from windows so definitely bring a headlamp/flashlight. 2. The bathrooms in Avalanche campground don't provide handsoaps so bring your own. 3. If youre planning on hiking Hidden Lake and the Highline Trail, youre going to have to park in Logan Pass and they've implemented a 3 hour parking limit now and also get there very early to get a parking spot. We've hiked Hidden Lake (total 5.2 mi) and was able to make it back within 3 hours, however, for the Highline trail hike to Granite park chalet (7.6 mi one way) we parked at one of the overlooks just a little further down the road from Logan Pass to avoid getting a ticket or worse, getting towed. We finished that hike in 10 hours.

Overall, Glacier NP and the campground are a great place...however the A08 campsite was terrible at best...it isn't really a campsite is the best way to put it...all the surrounding sites are much larger and have ample space in back of the gravel drive/ parking areas of them to facilitate proper placement and staking of tents. A08 has all gravel ...although it states it in the details, it really shouldn't be qualified as a campsite. It is extremely small and too close to the A loop road. I suggest the National Park service/ rec.gov make A08 twice the size it is, and allow for camping where it says no camping beyond the boundary...or eliminate the site completely.

Amazing campground right by the Avalanche Lake trailhead!

We loved this campsite but were only here one night due to smoke. We were really close to the amenities, which were clean and nice. Would camp here again, especially given how close it is to some nice hikes.

Great little campground, level sites, clean restrooms. A bit hard to get to site as you have to drive thru the masses that are trying to park in the day use lot. Some sites are closer to road and get some noise during the day. Super handy location to hike both Trails of Cedar and Avalanche Lake.

Great experience at the campground with helpful hosts, clean campsite, adequate amenities. It's a National Park so come ready to be patient with people and the pace.

This is a beautiful location with nice camp spots.

Was thankful to get a one night spot when someone cancelled. Never saw a host or ranger, but the site was clean and ready for us and we really enjoyed it. We hiked Avalanche lake in the morning before check out so that we didn't have to deal with parking and that was definitely a highlight. No available firewood to purchase when we were there. Bathrooms were ok - serviceable water but no lights so don't forget your headlamp when you go! This campground is in trees, which gives you privacy from neighbors, but not alot of views of surrounding mountains.
